performance1985, since it looks like you've been here all of 2 days, welcome to Fred's! The tone here is usually friendly. Good luck with the repairs and let others know how it went so they can use your thread as a resource. S/F.
Thanks, hskrdu, it was only my 2nd day on the forum and I'm glad to see so much interaction, and passion. Like I mentioned, I have been turning wrenches for a few decades, but not always on the Audi/VW's.

I was able to remove both valve covers without removing the AC lines, but it was snug; probably should have removed them to make it easier on myself; next time. Thanks to the collaboration in the forum for assisting me with resources of information. I'm definitely someone that normally does the task first and read the instruction later - unfortunately.

Hello all. According to the last oil change and inspection, the service in Audi delarship told me I need a Valve cover gasket replacement.
I read all posts here and try to download the documents and guidance how to do it by myself. I have experience with cars and have changed many cover gaskets on diesel and gasoline engines, but this one looks a bit more complicated. I tried a deep search on the Internet but have had no success finding a detailed video or document on how to do it, especially on passenger-side covers. I have the list of the parts from the dealership, and their price is over $ 3400, which is insane.
This is a list of the part numbers for the 2016 Audi Q5 TDI.
059-103-483-T - gasket
059-103-484 - gasket
059130-519-B. - wahsher
WHT-000-884. - seal ring
WHT-007-480-A - seal ring
G-12E-050-S0. - coolant
8K0-298-260-B. - repair kit
8R0-121-081-CJ - venthose
059-121-731-D. - pipe

I'm curious about the vent hose and pipe that need to be replaced.
I appreciate any help and advice.

Kokich,

I wish I would have video taped my procedure, as I went through it all without pulling the motor.

Let me start by saying, I used FCP Euro for most of the parts for this job vs. the dealer; big savings there. Next, I did not remove the AC lines on the drivers side as some suggested, maybe would have made the valve cover a little easier to remove, but the tilting and gentle pulls towards the front, worked for me. I would say get plastic bags and mark all your screws from where you take them out from to save any potential headaches later.

I pulled the air box, coolant reservoir, etc., so I could have access on both side of the engine to move around. Also, I ended up pulling the injectors, intake, and throttle body/EGR parts to clean out all the carbon.

I did take some pictures, so let me see what I can post up. One suggestion that may help from someone on the forum is to subscribe to “AllDATADIY” for one month, so you can get all the listed technical procedures and torque specs; this was a good validation resource for me.
