Noise, oil consumption, drop off in power. Some people have had a sudden failure where the cam has broken. Mine had some broken followers when it was opened up. If they are on the way out the wear is very conspicuous.If you are concerned then lift the cam covers and have a look, and if you are considering mods i would say this is a pre start requirement rather than an option. As the Skoda garage down the road from you in Penryn did mine only at Christmas they would be able to tell you very quickly if there's a problem.

For that money you've could have bought almost a complete 3.0 CR on ebay.de; complete with harness, ecu etc..

Can someone tell me what the AKE engine standard boost pressure is?

Rub87 - Yep could have bought another engine but went that route a year ago and got royally fecked about. Once bitten twice shy as they say.

Could i add another turbo for lower end power? its not so quick of the mark as i would have liked.

would this be easy to install and which turbo(s) would do the job?

Just had a reply from Guiseppe Bosio telling me who to contact in UK (I have emailed weekly for the last 5 weeks....). Will be contacting the UK guy today to see what he can do.
FB say i should use the Race 683 or powerplus 683.

R683 is good for 250-260bhp as I've been told, you would need a bigger turbo.

Not sure what bhp the pp683 is rated at.

We'll see what the UK man says, suspect he may not know much. Wondering if i fit the pp683 whilst looking for the turbo and fmic, then upgrade to r683 and sell on the pp683. Depends how much they are.

On another item, one of the UK Garrett turbo dealers has put forward using Unichip as a remapping tool for tying together the mods we are looking at. Think this is also known as Dastek elsewhere. Does anyone have experience of this software? If so how did you get on with it?
He also said that he thought i would be better sticking with a VNT turbo, and suggested the one off the Mercedes 3.0 E320 CDI AMG as the biggest around, good for 230hp he says. Again comments welcome.

that turbo is a 2359v, which is what i'm looking for, should be good for 250-260bhp as i've been told be the experts on this thread. how much does he want for the turbo? can you confirm its a 2359v? also how much for the r683?

OK clarity: its the C320 CDI AMG 230HP not the E320; it is the the GT2359V.
Bosio powerplus 683 nozzles £276 for 6, Jeremy Lear at Lear Automotive based in Norwich lear.automotive@yahoo.co.uk, 0044 1603 722 597. He is ordering TODAY so be quick, in stock next week (Italians allowing). He knows and deals with KermaTDI, from what i can tell knows his stuff.

How about the r683?

Not recommended unless you are going to alter the engine to cope with them. I'm sticking with the pp683 as i do not intend to do major internal works. The engine will run with them in albeit lumpily, but this can be cured via Vagcom he says. I think i am going to acquire all the parts then fit them at one time and get the remap
Yeah that turbo price is a bit chewy. I am looking at another Garrett authorised dealer just now.

'fraid not, if you want nitty gritty detail about the technical spec for the nozzles then speak to Jeremy Lear as above, or KermaTDI on here should know. If you enquire at Fratelli Bosio you may be in for a long wait. I may need the info for the remap, but as i haven't identified the remapper I want to use yet I don't know what info to ask for. If you get any info i'd be obliged if you'd post it here or on my audi-sport.net diesel forum thread for future reference.
Nobody has replied on the boost pressure question yet, any info would be good....

When the guy corrected the car model i looked it up and the car runs 230hp as standard, so i began to think he had just read thesame chart as me and didn't know what the potential was. I have also found that although a Garrett authorised dealer they get their parts through a third party. Not getting that nice warm feeling that he really knows what he's are selling so as i said i am now looking elsewhere.
The 2260 was one of the options originally recommended about 20 posts back, so yes i am still looking around for either, it was just this guy had the 2359 available.

GT2359V, fitted to engine MO612DE30 on C320 CDI AMG with 230hp

Garrett Nr 729355-0003, OEM Nr A6120960899

As it makes "only" 230hp stock, I wouldnt say that it is good for 300 or even more hp IF it shall be reliable, 260-270 is say yes....
