I'm leaving tomorrow for a trip from Waterloo, ON to Carleton Place, ON. It's 450km one way so 900km round trip. Plus at least one trip to Ottawa (another 100km round trip). Total is about 621+ miles.

I'm going to attempt this on a single tank. For some of you hypermiling TDIers this might not seem like much, but for me its a serious step up in mileage. I will be hoping to do this in spite of:

1. Winter diesel
2. Snow tires
3. Stock EA288 TDI (From what people on here say, the mileage might be a little suspect compared to older TDIs)

I will update with some pics as the story develops.

Good luck

Good luck and stay focused. Are your roads snow covered? That would be tough if they are. If you are all stock, you'll have to work real hard to get 600 this time of the year. My 1,000 mile attempt is dwindling....but in the spring, warmer weather, LRR tires....she will be mine....

Good luck, I drove from Waterloo to Peterborough this past Saturday and managed to only get 4.9 with snows on and plus 10 degrees cruzin at 110.
Remember this; the mfd in these cars seem to be off by 2-4 % so do us all a favor and calculate by hand not what the dash reads.

I drove from waterloo to bass pro Vaghan and back yesterday and averaged 6.4 with my Touareg v6 TDI, you should have no issue doing yours. I find going toward Mississauga you get great mileage as it's slightly downhill, my best was 4.8 with the Touareg.

You'll get great mileage until about Kingston and then it'll drop a bit.

Don't forget the 2015 has a slightly smaller fuel tank to make space for the DEF tank.
The mileage runs about 4mpg on average more for my SIL 15 vs my 14 but the smaller tank (i think 4-5L) cuts down the range

I'm back!

I couldn`t post while on the road, was having some problems logging in where I was. The other disappointing bit is that my total driven was only 914.7km (my sister in-law insisted on driving while I was there:()

Got off to a good start. Took a quick bio break in Mississagua:

While driving got the MFD reading all the way up to 1050km in tank (with 200km already driven) but that number did not hold up. When I got to destination fuel gauge was at 3/4 and MFD was showing 650km in tank (Something happened to that pic... phone ate it)

Final pic is back at home - fuzzy but best my phone is willing to do in the garage at the moment:

Total driven was 914.7km (568.368 miles). Gauge still shows ~1/4 tank and 160km on MFD. Average speed was 95kmph. Spent alot of time on cruise at 125 or 105 (depending on hwy).

Computer says total consumption was 4.9L/100km. Will do the math once I fill it and can compare the receipts.

Sold 2014 Jetta back to VW in 2016. In Oct 2020 Bought 2015 Passat TDI SE CPO
Little Joe. At least in the US, the 2015 Jetta TDI sedan still has a 14.5 Gallon fuel tank, DEF tank and IRS unlike the MK7 Golf TDI.

I have a 2014 Jetta TDI sedan and I've had 9 - 600+ mile tanks and 5 - 590 to 599 mile tanks. The most fuel I have every put in the tank is 14.24 gals. I've only had 4 tanks the took 14+ gals. Longest Tanks were 661 miles and 13.53 gallons, 639 miles and 13.01 gallons.

I'm not willing to run it down all the way to E and 0 miles indicated on miles to empty.

I bought the car mid January 2014, and now almost 24000 miles.

Your 2015 should not have too much trouble with 600+ mile tanks. Just understand mileage decreases as temps get below 40F of so and Winter fuel decreases mpg also.

YMMV

Temp and speed are the 2 biggest factors in this equation.
When I picked up my '15 Golf in August 2014 I was able to get it down to 3.5L/100K at an average temperature of 26-30° C
You should have no problem busting 1000k on a single tank.

VW shows the 2015 Jetta has the same size fuel tank as the 2014. Is that incorrect? If it's right, 600 miles should be a no-brainer, even in winter.

Filled up today right to the same level as starting the trip and recording the odometer:

KMs = 930
Fuel = 49.397L

Consumption = 49.397 / (930 / 100) = 5.3L/100km or 44.38 MPG

Extrapolating that out to max range on a 55L would have put me at 1037km. So while not a record setting tank it gives me a baseline to beat on future trips.

Hey I have a 2015 Jetta TDI. Just took it on a long road trip to Miami. I have been getting 600 mile tanks consistently on 14.2 gallons. That's about 42 MPG. The computer always shows 48 mpg, but in reality it's 42. I'm kinda disappointed.
