Been on here for awhile now digging around old threads to figure out my issue. Getting a P0087 code for low fuel pressure.

Was only going into limp mode intermittently only after reaching full operating temp, now that I changed the fuel pressure regulator it does it when ever I press the accelerator to hard at any temp.

I have NO metal particulates or debris in the metering valve, I made sure to check.

So far I have changed:

Fuel pressure regulator
Fuel pressure sensor
Injector seals
Fuel Filter

A few things:
1. Did someone recently change the fuel filter? The hoses can easily get reversed and will trigger that code as you are mentioning.
2. There is an intermediate fuel pump. It can go bad and will NOT throw a code. Actually you can unplug it and still no codes.
3. There is also a fuel pump in the tank that can go bad.

Best is to have a VCDS cable and software will tell you all of the fuel pressures. Then it's pretty easy to tell what is causing the problem. That code is low rail pressure but the problem often has nothing to do with the rail and instead is fuel starvation to the HPFP.

I changed it but it was already doing this, all the hoses are connected to the canister lid. No way to mess up the hoses. How do I get the fuel pressures on VCDS? I heard you can't? Need an inline fuel pressure gauge.

Hmm..I swore I saw it but I just checked the VCDS and looks like only rail pressure on the CJA. Looks worth a shot to check the lift pump pressure and aux pump pressure. I have put a CP3 on all of mine so there is only 6psi pressure from the tank to the pump.
Is fuel economy ok? Wonder if it could be a tiny leak.
