1. Yes a slushbox cause my wifey who is an awesome stick gal(keep it clean) because of age prefers them now

2. Were fine w gassers just need really reliable

3. Need referral to tdi club level PRIUS mechanic that can do an engine swap/gasket repair. Dealer wants 8k to put in new engine. Ruled out spark plug, intake egr valve, loses pressure and we hear that dreaded prius engine knock occurs randomly. Will drive well for months then well hello there again. Prius v wagon baby 2012 199k miles

backstory

Loved my Passat and Jetta wifey referred to them as stinky 1 and 2, Unfortunately both have been passed on to new owner,

i was unable to find a replacement in time and i needed to teach 3 new drivers how to drive stick. My dughters not to keen on the manual life. lol. so my Honda fit is trying to hold on to its clutch as long as possible.

Weird thing about this Honda nothing has fallen off or busted like it does not need me at all.

There are just too many to list....
We work on Priuses here all the time, we do a CRAP TON of engines in them, the 2ZR-FXE 1.8L is a notorious short-lived specimen, although it's usually manifested as coolant in one of the cylinders like a blown head gasket... but the real culprit is all too often a cracked head.

You're probably a bit too far away to make it worth dragging it here, though.

Cheap cars are everywhere, but cheap isn't what it used to be. $2k may not buy you much... look on your local Craigslist or FB Marketplace, but don't set your hopes too high.

Yours almost made it 200k... many don't. Luckily, lots of used ones out there, Prius drivers crash a lot, and they are not a car that easily survives even a minor crash.

And I'm not sure I'd want a 2-pedal TDI you could buy for only $2k. I'm not sure I'd want one you could buy for double that, to be honest.

Thanks for a great reasoned response. One of my wife’s friends has a brother in law mechanic he says put Lucas oil stabilizer and switch to 0 w 30 oil. He does not have an opening until next sat. There’s probably an Prius version of Oliver and Tom. Two awesome tdi mech who had worked on my past cars. Just have to find em.

Ya agree on the two pedal is a problem but I have 3 headstrong young ladies taking their own sweet time to be learn the manual life. Wifey is also older prefers not to drive stick.
