Armrest

My armrest lid is broken on my 2005 TDI. I ordered a new one, however I am not sure how to replace it. Can anyone help guide me through this! Also my plastic seems oily and sticky. Thoughts??

You don't clarify which plastic is oily / sticky. If it's the "soft touch" covering on interior parts, then yes, after a decade (or two) the soft touch gives way to time. Search for a variety of methods to clean, scrub off, paint, or replace. Here's another helper:
