I think i need me mounts... is this excessive engine rocking? Does anyone know how oem and aftermarket mounts compare to one another in terms of stiffness and durability. There's lemforder, febi, corteco, oem... Looking for oem quality, not sure what to get. Thanks!

Yes, too much movement. Unfortunately I cannot comment on mount quality - I'm still running the originals.

You get what you pay for. I used "OEM quality" mounts for my wife's '03 and they are. I used cheaper mounts for my '01 and they were stiff to start with but mellowed a bit with age. They are still stiff when the temps drop.

Check the dogbone mount - that one handles the rotation of the engine. Get your front end up, remove the undercover and you'll see it attached to the bottom of the transmission and the other end in the crossmember. Replace that one first and see if that's all you need to do.

Ditto on the dogbone mount; I've been through two or three..(gettin' old, don't remember). I also replaced one of the motor mounts. Check out idparts for OEM-quality parts.

It was kind of impossible to research what's what. People who were ordering one brand were receiving another, apparently everything including oe is now made in China, who makes the oem mounts, etc.

Ended up just ordering Febi mounts and a Corteco diesel specific dogbone. They were cheap, will be better than what I have now and will help diagnose some handling wobbling and also knocking. Will post my review of them once installed.

Received my mounts. The corteco dogbone has grinding marks, so that may be oem, which is great. The febi mounts... I'm trying to figure out whether they're fluid filled or not. One of them has a sqishy bottom. Does that mean it is?
