Not taking it easy and venting the tank. Makes it easier to be consistant with fill ups. More acurate records that way. With my driving style 44 is pretty good for a Beetle. I am not going to try to make the 700 mile club because I am just too dang impatient and want to go go go!

First tank over 700 miles, running Kuhmo Ecsta MX's wider and shorter (205/50/R15) w/ an autocross run in the middle of it. I love diesel!

Dan

**edit Ummm, ment to put this in the 700 mile club, I can't compete here yet!

MPG= 36.93

Hard accelerations if possible until proper speed is reached.
Quiet rides, 50 MPH,on highway(65%) and 100 mph rides on interstates (35 %)
Seems aggressive and fast driving has little influence on fuel consumption overall, just as you guys expected...
Only my tires are gonna wear faster I guess ;-)
Now for a tank without acetone and the same drives...
The weather is improving suddenly, real spring is here to stay, those rotten tree pollen make me sick though, but AC on recycle does something good, although OFF and all the valves closed is better but it 's gonna be warm that way. Haven't used the AC still, gonna see what it does to the MPG's...

OK so I went for it this tank, whimped out with the dam fuel light though, could have gone a bit farther, still impressed though! Looks like I could have made 900, but that Fuel Light! It had been on for about 50 miles.

Not so good with this tank. Snow tires have been removed, but weather has been so nice that I have been driving around a lot with windows and sunroof open which I am sure cuts into MPG.

eh... you don't want to cut it too close. My thousand mile tank only took 15.8 on the fill, and I was scared for the last 100 miles. You may have had over a gallon in the tank, but... you didn't know that before the fill. Best not to run out of fuel.

It was still 55mpg, not to shaby!

Yes, absolutely did not want to run out of fuel, at least now I know how my gauge is calibrated as far as the light coming on for future tanks.

I've only had my TDI Golf 5speed automatic for a little while, so it's still in the breakin period. But I've noticed that at about 60 mph it seems to be in a sweet zone where the engine/transmission seem to run just a little smoother and probably giving a little better mpg as well.

Has anyone else noticed this?

What's that black blur on the roads of Phoenix (and I-10 to Tucson)?

It's Mike, driving like a friggin' maniac!

Yes, another "throwaway" tank...I had to burn the first third of my fuel taking a trip to Tucson for which I was late before I even started. Hence, it was all done between 80-100mph. My car feels GOOD on WOT blasts from 80-100. Plus, the first half of the tank, it was complaining about the temp sensor and doing weird stuff on start. I've got that fixed now (the sensor connection was loose/crooked/something).

I had a lot more country road driving (@ ~ 63 MPH) on this tank...as you can tell.
