Well, we shall see. So far I don't have problem. Also remember, as this forum stated VW are making that every car should scanned before grant the warranty, so it's nothing to do with dealer, unless dealer has choice not to do this scanned and submit warranty claim to the VW AG in the order to be pay for this work.:confused::confused:

phlfly: You have a very special relationship with your service adviser. This is not typical.

That said, until you have a drivetrain warranty issue, you still have no proof that VWoA will cover it, regardless of your service adviser's claim.

Bottom line: ANY performance modification of the ECU will void any drivetrain warranty claims. It only makes sense, doesn't it?
Not everything follows the makes sense rule. I have read most chippers will revert program to stock before going to dealer.( for a fee). I would think a dealer would only read for errors- unless there is some reason to suspect a change.
Not sure where I read it, but even lowering the car can be "assumed " for performance - therefore reason to exclude warranty work.
Maybe someone with chip experience can elaborate or exclusion of warranty work.

I personally want to tune the DSG- I have never liked the "launch" . I do like the sport mode launch much better, but don't need all shifts at higher revs. And don't like switching between d - s after every stop

A custom DSG tune will fix that behavior.

Bottom line. Any tune, you risk an issue with your engine and drivetrain warranty. My dealer has been good to me and knows I am tuned, hard not to know with the Malone decals. I have also not had any drivetrain issues.

Pay to play - PERIOD

I got the apr tune about 3 weeks ago and so far I like it. You can definitely feel the extra torque.

How is it with the DSG? I don't believe they offer a trans tune as most everyone agrees that with a tune the DSG needs to be addressed.

How objectionable the lack of a DSG tune is seems to be directly (actually inversely) related to how good (strong) the engine tune is. In other words the better the tune (the more torque it puts out), the more noticeable and the more objectionable is the DSG controller's torque limiting behavior.

I do not know about NMS (CKRA) tunes, but with the CBEA/CJAA tunes, the APR tune didn't cause many problems with DSGs for the simple reason that it did not add a whole lot of torque. The DSG's torque limiting was not very noticeable. However, with a Malone, RocketChip, or Revo tune that DSG controller's torque limiting is very noticeable and very irritating. The better the tune, the more you need a DSG tune. APR gets away with no DSG tune because their ECU tune is relatively mild.

Have Fun!

Normal driving around town the dsg has no problems. It shifts smooth. When you get on the pedal a little hard, then shifts are firm but not bad. So far I'm satisfied.
