Did anyone receive an email reminding them of their appointment 48 hours in advance? I have two appointments tomorrow and received no email...

It seems to be a process that has been pushed aside to deal with the backlog. No notifications to me at this late date. Tomorrow I will show up.

Three minutes after this post! It shows up.

My buyback was yesterday afternoon. I got my reminder yesterday morning.
I am surrendering my vehicle December 14th. Did your payment = the notarized offer? Did you walk away without receiving payment (either by check or EFT confirmation) ?

Why yes, matter of fact it just arrived..... (surprising, right?)

This is to remind you of your scheduled appointment with a Settlement Specialist at Royal Motor Sales on 12/3/2016 at 3:00 PM. Upon turning your vehicle in you will receive your settlement payment via the payment method you selected Electronic Fund Transfer (EFT) or check, in accordance with the following details:
Checks:
If your mileage is within the estimated range and you selected check, you will receive the check while at the dealership.
If a mileage adjustment is needed which requires an additional payment, the additional check will be mailed within 3 business days of the transaction; and will be sent via FedEx with a signature required for delivery to ensure safety of your payment.
Electronic Funds Transfer: If you selected EFT then will receive email notification from JP Morgan Chase (donotreplyChasePayments@jpmorgan.com) within 3 business days of the buyback closing. After receipt of that email, you will need to click the link in the email and provide your banking information directly to JP Morgan Chase and the payment will be processed.
In order to receive this payment and ensure a successful transaction, please visit www.VWCourtSettlement.com and select “Documents” to view the closing checklist, which provides a list of what you will be expected to bring to this appointment, which may include:
Title. If you have the title to your vehicle, you must bring it to your closing. Please be sure to check the back of your title to ensure that there is space for you to sign over title to Volkswagen. If there is not a blank space for the Buyback transaction, you will need to obtain a new title from your DMV or similar government agency. This is not necessary if you have a loan and your lender possesses the title to your vehicle. If you once possessed title to your vehicle but lost it and cannot find it, you will need to obtain a new copy of your title to complete the buyback. Electronic titles will not be accepted to complete buyback transactions.
Certified Check, if applicable. If your offer letter indicated that you owe money to Volkswagen to proceed with your Buyback, you are required to bring a certified check made out to Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. Personal checks will not be accepted.
Liens Paid Off. If you have any liens on your Title, other than a vehicle financing loan, you must pay off those liens before you can transfer your Title to Volkswagen. If there is a lien showing on your Title at the time of your Buyback transaction, Volkswagen will require proof that the lien has been satisfied before your Buyback can occur. If you have questions about this requirement, please call 1-844-98-CLAIM.
You may also reschedule your appointment in the Online Claims Portal until the day of your appointment. If you need to reschedule on the day of your appointment, please contact the Settlement Support Team at 1-844-98-CLAIM.

Yep...just got mine for a Friday return.

I was very glad to see that the email restates the agreed-upon procedure for checks:

  • Checks:
    • If your mileage is within the estimated range and you selected check, you will receive the check while at the dealership.
    • If a mileage adjustment is needed which requires an additional payment, the additional check will be mailed within 3 business days of the transaction; and will be sent via FedEx with a signature required for delivery to ensure safety of your payment.
I will probably be in that second category, since a December turn in and the additional 1042 miles of allowance pushes me into a lower mileage category (I have not been driving the car). I was concerned, from some of the earlier posts, that they'd either reschedule the whole appointment or take the car w/o providing the first check.

However, the reminder-email only addresses two of the three possibilities. In addition to hitting the target mileage bracket or undershooting the bracket, one can obviously overrun the allowance (and thus are entitled to less money). In that case, the court papers indicate that the pre-printed check is not provided during the buy-back meeting, but is sent within 3 days (yet another VW timeline to meet that I wouldn't bet upon). It seems odd that they would tell you what's behind door #1 and door #2, but not mention the aligator waiting behind door #3.

As I was telling a friend, this process has proceeded in a fairly timely manner for me....so I have no real complaints. But I sure fell sorry for many of the other class members. The number of people who have been able to get to the appointment stage has been minuscule compared to the number that should be there. And it's really frustrating to see people get the offer, send it back, and then wait days and weeks for VW to allow the (supposedly "immediate") opportunity to schedule the appointment....especially when VW had that step down to about 24 hours earlier in the month.

I got that beat - my appointment is on the 14th. 288 hours in advance.

The body of the email was fine - the appointment was at the time I expected and all that, so there is nothing to get excited about..
