We just started looking at RVs. There a big difference between the fit and finish with the ford and the Mercedes. You'd swear they weren't even made by the same company. The new ones are well out of our price range but that won't stop me from dreaming!

Sorry for the thread creep.

so far I have changed the oil and fuel filter (via idparts), and changed the window in the side door twice. the wind can catch the door and smack it against the side of the coach, and we (wife) seem to be slow learners.

this is a 2015 LTV Unity Island Bed. Sprinter 3500 V6

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i8TG-H1kcr4

we started looking a year ago and went through a few pre-purchase decisions, from used Pleasure-way, to a new Pleasureway, to a mostly DIY on a 2017 Sprinter with 4 cyl with help from Sportsmobile, to this class C.

the MPG is not so sweet as my JSW camper top, but outstanding for an 11,000 pound house on wheels

the bathroom is closer for middle of the night needs than down the stairs and into the woods.

LTV has a model based on a Transit chassis, but it has less GVW capacity, and a lower price point.

stopped by to get a couple things out of my car.

sounds like they have a couple cars the DSG software update would not take on, and are waiting for VW to come up with a fix. (for the fix)

on the less than bright side, found the car covered with bird crap, seat reclined and an empty drink cup from 5 guys that I did not put there in the cup holder between the front seats.

^^That's a great RV Mike! I loved the video! The car camping photo looks like me and my situation. I even have a screen room similar to yours. It's not as glamorous as the RV, but it's still great fun and a wonderful way to see our beautiful country.

And good luck with the TDI fix! I guess I'll sign up soon.

Got my car back today, Sport mode is now D. No revs. Its not terrible, but I might start looking into tuners to make it faster and improve gas mileage.

A fun note my 2nd trip to the dealer they had my loaner for me, they told me to fill it back up to where I got it 1/2 tank. I ran it to a quarter and brought it back putting no gas into it. It's my payback for making me drive all the way down there for nothing the first day of my scheduled appointment.

When I've used Sportsmode, the dsg holds the shifts longer and seems to give more power earlier. Also, minimal hesitation when starting from a standing stop. In D, the dsg seems to need a second or two to think about what you're asking it to do.

I've read that some dealers have had trouble with the DSG re-flash. Wonder if in some cases it's not been done correctly and affects Sport mode.

Got the 2009 back, it drove fine for the 20 miles I was in it. Also drove a 2015 DSG and it was great; I haven't been in any 2009-2014 DSG's with the fix done yet...

The hesitation on starting at a light is really bad, Its like it takes a second to even register your are pressing the gas pedal. It had a bit of this before, but its way worse now.

The DSG hesitation I am worried about now is VW lack of response to come up with a fix for the fix for the DSG software update.

Here is a more TDI-relevant photo of the Sprinter RV. fuel filter on the V6 is located where you need to pull the air intake hose from the turbocharger input to pull the fuel filter.

Dear Dealer Partners,

I wanted to let you know the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and California Air Resources Board (CARB) have determined to disapprove our initial proposed emissions modification for approximately 7,100 Generation Two 2.0L TDI Model Year 2012-14 Passat vehicles with manual transmissions, the majority of which have already been removed from the road.

Volkswagen is still pursuing an approved emissions modification for these vehicles and intends to submit a proposed emissions modification within 90 days that we believe will address the regulators' concerns. We will update you as soon as there are additional details to share.

With your assistance, Volkswagen has been able to offer our customers an approved emissions modification for more than 98 percent of eligible 2.0L TDI vehicles in the United States. Our goal remains to make the settlement process as seamless as possible for you and our customers, and your ongoing support remains critical to its success. As always, I am enormously grateful for your hard work and support.

Best Regards,

Hinrich J. Woebcken

Welded on exhaust being from new parts from Volkwagen

Hi my 2010 VW jetta TDI has a welded exhaust rear of the car and I would like to see if anybody else had any problems trying to get the approved in missions fix. The second appointment the dealership found out that I had a welded exhaust but they're saying Volkswagen had welded their 2009 and 2010 exhausts but I want to see if that's true

2009 and early 2010 cars did have the exhaust system welded together such that both the DPF and LNT must be replaced as part of this recall. Everything newer, the LNT alone can be replaced.

You have a number for 09 modifications started, but DSG update failure prevents release of the car back to the owner?

Thank you for the Information. Volkswagen itself is finding a Fix for the DPF and LNT so i can get the Approved emissions fix. The cost to replace that if i were to is around $4,000 to $6,000 including labor. I dont have that kind of money.

Volkswagen shouldn't have to "find a fix", it's simply retrofit the 2010+ setup to your early 2010 car, which they've already been doing for 2009-2010 cars. Unless, of course, you modified the exhaust system by welding something else downstream?

Linkbad,

we suspect a loss of meaning someplace between you, the dealer, and our understanding.

If you applied and had the fix authorized, the dealer should be able to get the correct parts.

I had two appointments already... my second appointment they found out about the Welded part So they couldnt do the Fix.. the dealership and the company itself said I need to wait for a month or two for the Tech people to figure out what to do.

I don't suppose you could post a photo of where the weld is applied.

Ok so, they committed to having the fix in by Thursday, December 7, 2017

What is the EPA/CARB turn around time? If it's 90 days then that pushes it to Wednesday, March 7, 2018.
