It never really went away, just hidden.

Call to renew. When the sales person offers you a ridiculously high rate, ask to speak to customer retention. Tell them that the price is too high. They will jump up and offer you the $77 deal. Stand firm on paying the "intellectual properties" fee they try to tack onto the $77 deal. Read the smallprint above.

If you call to cancel your service they will give you 5 months for 23. I did that 5 months ago and just did it again.

I activated for a month (TDI fest 'commuting') and canceled again.
Better than broadcast, but still.....
I suspect next long trip will be MP3.

Not a bad deal but My XM was 399 plus a 69$ charge for music rights for the life of up to 3 units. One breaks the next one cost 69$ to activate and so on. They were not advertising it but if you ask fir it you can get it.

I sold my previous VW which I had installed one of the head-unit-XM-radio combos in, and called XM to cancel the service on that radio. I planned on getting a radio for my new TDI in a while, but XM overnighted me a brand new radio for free so that I would still be a customer. I was totally cool with that!

Just renewed BOTH radios for $150, including all fees. I called to cancel, as my newest invoice was 116.43 EACH (which is actually a discount from the "normal" rate of $164.00).

Serious FYI: They're using an automated system, and will automatically renew and charge it to your CC, when your subscription is up. Of course, they'll automaticlly renew "at the then current renewal rate", not your current rate. They're required by law to inform you of this at the end of your subscription, but if you neglect to respond, your rate will most likely be double+!

Beware!

Past documentation indicates some of the best prices per mo are between 4.32 to 4.99 per month. (This is not to say you could not get a better deal) It would also depend on whom (VW owners who have tried Sirius on MY's 09,10,11) is asking and HOW to ask. Happy hunting.

Since they are competitors, mention that to them by way of saying (ie.,) Sirius is offering 4.32 per month. What can you (XM) do for me? (to beat it, etc.)

Sirus and XM are one!

Sirus and XM are one company. They merged a few years ago. But they like to treat the customer as two different companies, so they don't need to offer second subcription rate of 1/2 off. Regardless of what they say, they can see your second subscription wether it be xm or sirus. I have proved that before, again as stated earlier, with customer retention.

I was wondering how others have delt with both xm and sirus receivers.

So what you are saying is they will not match or beat the other? I am glad I have only one then.
