So backstory. I own Baldwin Auto Repair in Ludlow MA. I am a TDI guru or at least I think so . Anyways I have a beautiful MKV Jetta diesel with 80k on it. It's a package 2 car with nav and the whole 9. I use it for business shuttle parts runs etc. basically I'm using the hell out of it and destroying it in the process. So I purchased a decent 2002 TDI on Craigslist that suffered a runaway. Didn't have the bent rods like normal but did had melted Pistons. Pretty ugly situation. Body wise the car wasn't too bad. Rusted fender and the right front door had some rust on it also. So after I sourced a good engine and installed it I was able to also find a red smashed Jetta on Craigslist being parted out. So I got the fender and right front door and a few misc. interior parts. When I got the car it had 3 Avus wheels rattle canned black and the spare on the front. Also had rattle canned red everywhere. Brake calipers hubs struts shocks. Everything lol. So I purchased some very nice 18inch black wheels. And that's where we are at this point. I want to get GLI springs and koni str-t for it next. Also would love a gli front and rear lip and side skirts. Then I am going to get it vinyled up for the business. I think I might go with a fire truck theme. Thoughts? Now if anyone has any stock gli suspension that would be fantastic. Also anyone have any recommendations on springs? I want to lower it to like stock gli height any after markets do that for me? And yes I know it's an auto. But it gets loaned out a lot and my shuttle driver can't drive a 5 speed! Not my first choice. So what's everyone's thoughts? O yea and also this is only taken 6 business days to get where we are right now.

Today was spent taking off all of the red overspray all over the car. Someone went rattle can crazy. Painted the whole rear bumper front bumper and rocker panels with a rattle can for what I can see is no reason at all. Been rubbing it all day with laquer thinner.

I went with H&R OEM sport springs for my Golf, not much of a drop, firmed it up nicely, would highly recommend, especially if you intend to drive the car.

I ended up buying some GLI springs from a 2004.5. Should bring it down about a half inch.

I pulled them but they did a number on the factory finish. So u think I'll be painting them black and reinstalling

Ok. So yesterday was productive. Installed all new konis and gli springs. I took some photos of the height difference in the front springs. It's pretty significant.

Aren't the GLI springs for a vr6 engine? I would not have thought it rated a full turn more spring. About how much did the ride height increase once you had it all together?
