Anyone use ATE Slotted Rotors?

I was wondering if anyone has used the ATE Slotted rotors? They're selling for almost $150 on BoraParts and I've found them at Canadian Tire for almost 1/2 the price.

Any insight would be great.

I was considering ATE or Zimmerman Drilled with Zinc Coating. The zummermans are going for almost 250 for a pair, while the ATE will cost me about 120.

Also, SLOTTED OR DRILLED? What's best in your opinion.

Thanks!

If you are talking about the Ate Premium One "Atom" slotted rotors (the rotor pattern looks like an atom?) then I've used them on my previous cars a few times. Great rotor; long lasting, good cleaning abilities from the slots and the zinc coating keeps everything but the braking surface looking great.

Do you guys think there is better performance with slotted or drilled rotors? 3+ years ago i switched to VR6 brakes up front and haven't looked back. No warping and better braking performance. Maybe this would be a better option for you?

IMHO i think that slotted and drilled rotors on a street car are just a sales gimmick. You've lost braking surface area by having those slots or holes as such should theoretically LOOSE braking performance.

In high horsepower race cars there is benefit to be had, but they are usually running a rotor designed to utilize the slots and holes. vented and Directional fins, thicker rotors, better materials etc etc.

If it was my choice I'd stick with the standard rotors. Tis my $0.02 on the matter

ATE premium rotors and pads are the best OEM brake parts in the industry. It's much better than the OE parts. Very quite and gives solid brake pedal. No squealing or screeching and very low dust. However, the brake pads have to be bed-in properly otherwise it'll give you a soft brake pedal.

I put a pair of ate on the wife's Chevy cobalt. Although she is tough on brakes they have held up fairly well.

I found the ate really nice, the slots work really good to keep the pad fresh and you always have good contact patch

I did really hard braking with them and they never let me down, I'd do them again

Those are not cooling slots, but wear indicators apparently. Got them on sale at crappy tire...good price, made in Germany and rears in china...time will tell!! Great so far!

Cross drilling for summer use only..IMHO

I did a complete 4 wheel brake job 2 years ago. On the front I have drilled rotors (No name) and Autozone "Gold" pads. Have no problems and the added benefit is that I have ABSOLUTELY NO black brake dust ever on the rims!

Would you guys recommend the ATE pads also? I got the rotors at Canadian tire but they say the pads are special order and not on sale. =S

I've put them on my sister in law's Liberty 3 years ago and they are still in cery good shape. The loss of surface area is pretty much insignificant and doesn't effect performance. They seem to be top notch quality and that what really matters at the end anyways.

I use them on my cummins with ate pads. Just had them off to do a wheel bearing and after a year still in excellent shape. If there good enough for a 3/4 ton should be no prob on a tdi.

Had them on my old 2001 TDI and they rusted to the point that they wore out a brand new set of rear pads in one month. The rust appeared to go wright into the rotors. Will never use them again.

Here in Germany, there is a huge choice of good ones but ATE and Brembo are pretty much considered top of the line for the main stream ones on offer. Either of those 2 brands is a no brainer. I put Brembo slotted and ATE pads last year on the front and the braking is nice and smooth.

I've used ATE Premium One rotors on front and rear with OEM pads. Would definitely recommend them for front, but will never put them on a rear axle again. My first set warped in about 6 month so I bought brand new rear calipers and another set of ATE rotors. And after about 6 month i have same problem. I think rear rotors are too thin to handle additional grooves.
