Looking for a catless downpipe for my car. Does anyone even make them? Internet searches have turned up nothing.

word on the street is that tdiparts.com is working on them.

their DP for the A4 chassis just came out. Its very nice, all tig welded 304 SS. and a flawless fit.

the A5 model is in the works. worth the wait IMHO

I dunno, but the sound and lower EGT's does it for me.

Their website may need to be updated... I double checked, and here's what I know about it...LOL
JSP used my car as the prototype for making MK5 downpipes. However, they had to custom make one for my car since the new turbo is facing the opposite direction from the old stock one. When my car was up there, they used it and the stock downpipe to make a jig so they could start making downpipes for the BRM engines.

Might be worth your while to give them a call and ask about it. I'm sure Jose could do a much better job explaining it than I am.

Robbinsresort,

Based on my experience with bigger downpipes in my ALH, the biggest gains are sound and lower EGTs.

Turbo spool time is decreased, which should lead to a slightly wider powerband. I doubt peak HP changed though, or if it did, it's not noticeable.
