I installed a Kerma PD140, stage 3 colt cam, malone stage 4 tune. Everything has been great. But about 2 months ago have a P0299 show up. And have been trying to figure out since. The turbo and other mods only have about 20k on them. But I have a slight premonition that something with the vanes in the turbo charger have gone bad. I have tested everything under the sun. Concerning vacuum and vacuum lines. Also boost system. I have found nothing notable except a lack of boost. I find it hard to believe that only 20k a problem with a brand new turbo could be an issue. But stranger things have happen. Any feed back would be greatly appreciated.

I did the Garrett PD140 conversion as recommended by 'Frank's vw tdi llc' in MO. Involves a ECM modification that is a must and new different oil supply line is a must. My conversion has been great, solved a host of problems with the OEM Borg Warner. Factory vacuum hoses are good quality but I somehow used a bad piece of hose when converting-- this mistake showed up a few k miles later as a collapsed hose that caused the loss of boost you describe. Hope this helps.

Appreciate the info. I did finally figure out what happen. The turbo I bought was supposed to be oem or like quality. Well. It wasn't. I bought it from TDI Upgrades. Worst people ever. Would even speak to me about the problem I had. One of the bolts that hold the nozzle to the exhaust housing broke off and lodged in the vane. Keep in mind this turbo didn't even have 20k on it. As I dug deeper I found the other 3 bolts were only finger tight. What a shame. I hate talking bad about anyone. But this whole experience was just unprofessional.
