im planning on doing an oil change soon, found out the "old" 507.00 5w30 has been discountinued and replaced with 0w30 now and it actually costs less. Any reason to be concerned about this oil? If i understand this correctly it only behaves like thinner 0 oil at freezing temp, once warmed up it is still the 30 oil?

It meets VW's 507.00 spec, so I would say no reason to be concerned. However, if you prefer the 5w30, there are a lot of oils out there that also meet VW's spec for your engine. Rowe, Total, Liqui-Moly, Pentosin, to name a few.

Not all VW dealers have switched over to 0w30 my local VW where I use to go is closed Saturday's found another VW further away that was open Wich did carry OEM 507.00 spec 5w30 oil... 0w30 507.00 is also fine to use & yes it's stayes at w30 0 simply means it pumps quicker at start up.
