I just bought a 2006 Jetta TDI two days ago and would love to meet other owners, unfortunatly my car won't be ready for me to pick up until Saturday, at which time I'll be hitting the road for Texas. I'm in Phoenix, not sure how I would get to Mesa, but if anyone in Phoenix is looking for a meet up or can take a passenger to Mesa I'm up for it. Never had a TDI before so meeting others would be great!.

Jan sounds good. I have an AHU 1998 that I use to commute to Nuc Plant. Can't complain, this old beater is keeping the Bimmer from getting beat up. 45+mpg too. Are any of you familiar with AHUs?

AHU is nearly identical to the 1Z. Only some internal engine components are different. IIRC, valve stem diameter, pistons, maybe rings. Externally, they are nearly impossible to tell apart.

As mentioned, I am in the West Valley, off of Hwy 303/I-10.

if you need directions, again, just PM me. Its very easy to find. Just have to account for all of the 303 construction going on, so there are some detours to get north of I-10. I try to avoid 303 altogether, due to this constuction.

I'm interested in seeing what others have modified on their cars, along with anyone just running stock. This is a no pressure meet, so feel relaxed and come have some fun hanging out in my shop, and talking about VWs, or other diesels if you like.

lol, we have dunkin' donuts over here? I'd completely forgot about them until I went to the east coast a couple years ago. They're almost as common as Starbucks up there.

depends on which area you are coming from. I-10 is the easiest if you are coming from East Valley. North Valley, 101 to Camelback to 303 then up to Bethany Hm. Camelback is closed west of the 303.

I may end up showing up in my MB 190D, my beetle is leaking some oil due to bad gaskets on the Oil Cooler. I'm going to try to have it fixed tomorrow night, but I don't want to pee oil at your house Fred.

I just found this thread, would be glad to come (from Mojave Valley) but unfortunatelly can't on Sarurday. Sundays and mondays are my days off. It's four hours drive from my place, so I would stay two days and take care of some other things in Phoenix area too. On overnight trips like this I take advantage of my JSW and do "camping" i.e. comfortably sleep in the back of the car. With my wife too if she is with me but for her it must be no less then 60 degrees in the night. My JSW camper got inspired by Geo Metro Camper on geometro forum.
All right, may be next time...

Wow, sounds like there's gonna be quite a few ppl over there! Tomorrow morning, I've got a few things I have to do (have to get the Jetta aligned first thing due to new halfshaft I put in today, then run some errands with my better half), but can head over that direction afterwards.. Its about a 1.5-2 hour drive for me to get over to that side of town, as I'm on the other side of the universe in comparison. Soonest I could be over there is around 12 or 1pm.

I'll bring my dirty Jetta TDI (not even gonna bother washing it as it'll probably rain), laptop and vagcom..

I do need to pick some brains about my injection pump thats making some noise. I think its almost time to have it rebuilt along with the injectors cleaned and tested.

I'm sure everyone has noticed it is raining this morning. I am still planning for anyone that wants to show up, and there's plenty of room in the shop to stay dry.
From Mesa, even Apache Junction, it shouldn't take more than an hour, but then that depends on traffic, construction and now rain!
