Anxious about a 2013 Passat!

I ordered a 2013 Passat TDI last week and my dealer was unable to give me as much delivery date info as most here seem to have. Is there a way to procure this info on my own? I have my Comm# but nothing else.
This will be my first VW and after researching for so long I just can't wait to drive it! It would be wonderful to at least have an idea as to when it will be time to utilize all of the info that I've learned on these forums.

Your order will most likely go in to the input queue by July 23, to be built. Figure 6 to 8 weeks from there, if they don't have any back logs on parts for the Bill of Material. Early Sept if lucky, mid to late, if delays. You probably bought the most popular, loaded model out there, which means there's more chance of parts on backorder... VW can NOT keep these TDI SEL's on the lots.

There is also the possibility that there is a car like yours perhaps already in the queue, but unsold, that your name could go on also... but that's kind of a crap shoot... Beige interiors have been hard to find, where I've looked. That would take some luck, but it has been known to happen. Plan long, and if you get it sooner, thank your lucky stars.

My guess is the further south you look, the less desirable dark interiors are, and the more desirable a tan interior is... that is, until you get a tan interior dirty, they are a constant PIA to keep looking clean with kids, pets, mountain bikes, dirt, outdoors activities, etc.

Thanks for the info, Niner! I figure I won't be lucky enough to get my name put on one that's already made, but I'll definitely keep my fingers crossed.
This all started as an attempt at a 2012 dealer trade and when we looked, there were only 2 for sale in my color combo within 500 miles and neither were willing to trade. Once I realized that it made more sense to order one, it was time for 2013s.

I ordered a Reflex Silver / Titan Black SE 6 Speed on May 25. I received it on July 13 if that helps. It arrived at the dealership on July 12. Less than 2 months is not too bad of a turnaround... I was originally told 6 to 8 weeks too (kudos to 9er) but ya never know!

He wants you to upgrade to something he does have in stock... look around, there's 6 mans out there, if you want to drive or fly to go get it.

It certainly gives me hope that I may get it before my road trip at the end of August, but I do have another car lined up for that, just in case.

I ordered mine on 7/5 and the system shot back a build week of 8/6, with a dealer delivery date of 9/3. My sales guy told me sold orders arrive 7-14 days before that dealer delivery date, or there is a slight chance it gets produced sooner. I am really hoping for a mid august pick up!

He did tell me the SELs were taking longer at one point because of the seat material supplier, but I think that has been resolved, not sure.

Wonder where the SEL Premium I ordered 1st week of May is in the process. Got the COMM # but no word about VIN or delivery speculation from dealer. Dealer shows no Passat 2013s in stock but has 54 2012 Passats (5 TDIs). Hope he isn't required to reduce his 2012 inventory before the 2013s are allowed to be delivered.

Are the dealers even able to keep one around to test drive? Seems like a bit of a lead of faith. I really want an SEL TDI, I already have an '06 Jetta Pack 2 TDI with Nav. The probelm is that I am torn between the Passat and an Acura TL SH-AWD with tech pack. I understand they are very different cars purpose built for different reasons. I just still have the go fast bug in me, as well as the fuel frugal bug. I like both Acura and VW very much.

Having said that I am leaning more towards the Passat, but if VW fails to provide one that can be test driven in the model and trim I desire, then the sale might just go to Acura.

Just go drive a passat TDI at your local dealership, they all pretty much drive the same, some of them shift differently, or have different trim, or more options, but that's about it.

Get down to a dealership and find out.

Soon, season starts again... the GF has family that are rabid suck fans of the Chiefs, I've not much hope watching all those games with the family while KC dies. Beer and chips with dip will be my saviour. We don't do Braut parties out here, but they sure look fun!

I see. I just sent him mine, hopefully there will be good news.
Maybe the delay has something to do with allotments at your dealer? I know that when I was looking for info on mine, I saw something about dealerships only getting so many of each trim at a time. I also have no idea what I'm talking about as far as this goes and will fully admit to the fact that I am, at this time, purging info gleaned from the ever trustworthy internets.
