I had my car in at the dealer today as the passenger seat heater was not working. Much to my surprise, the heated seat switches are covered by a 7 year unlimited mileage warranty. Same as the window clips.

I'd never read about that here, so thought I would post it.

Hell, I better get in there then!
How time flies... I guess our 2003s are approaching 7 years of age now... sheesh... I guess I should take ours in for the heated seat recall - if we can ever find the time and decide which dealer should get the work...

Is there any place to fine info on this recall. My drivers seat isnt working like it should. and my passengers seat i have already replaced once, but it was a freebie so no big deal.

If the recall was done. Take it back to the dealer or call them, it might be covered under the extended waranty.

it depends on the model and the year - the repair was not covered on my 02 Golf, but it was covered on wild kittty's 03 Jetta (same dealer)

damn...I should get this checked out. My '02 jetta passenger seat hasn't been heated since Nov'08. Although I think it's more likely something I hit while cleaning the car....

Tsagoth, thanks for the tip! I visited my friendly neighbourhood dealership today, and after a brief argument that I already knew the problem was just the switch, in went the car and out it came with a working seat heater!

I never in a million years thought I would get FREE service from the dealer!
Thanks again!

As for the switch I ordered, I'm back to my regular mechanics (the one who ordered the part) tomorrow for a timing belt change (recent thread i posted). He didn't have any in stock last week, and was supposed to install it tomorrow for me, so I'm hoping he won't mind just having one in stock at his shop now!
