Another mod you don\'t need - power seats

Since we're on the subject of pissing away money...I'd like to add that last night I finally finished my power seat mod upgrade to my Jetta.

Short Story:

bought used Jetta WE cloth covers off a guy on the Vortex

bought new cushions and replaced my lint-trap seats

Fast forward a year or so...

I find a set of power seats at a junk yard which are re-skinned with my WE Jetta covers.

Everything worked the first time!! Seat memory, mirror memory.

Chris, when you're ready to waste more money, I can help you with the wiring.

I'm also helping another forum member who bought leather power seats. We meet once a week at the NIH and work in the parking lot during our lunch breaks /images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Frank,

Thanks, I resemble that remark:) If you haven't already bought the cluster, hold off for a bit. I may have a used one you can buy, cheap. It will be a plain face(with MFA) and not the sport model, so if you want the chrome rings...buy the one Impex is selling.

Considering the way the standard seats work, I certainly wouldn't say that power seats is a waste of money. /images/graemlins/cool.gif

BTW, Lito, if Powerstroke isn't interested in that cluster, I may be. I wasn't exactly thrilled with the "sport" look that Impex is selling. (Probably would change if I actually saw them in person...)

Ok,

I'll let you know. It'll be easier since you're local.

If anyone is looking for the memory seat wiring harnesses to retrofit this feature, there's a vendor on German Ebay that sells them. I think he builds them with spare parts because they dont appear used as in apparently ripped out of salvaged cars.

His site is: http://www.nachruestkabel.de/

He speaks English, so communication wouldnt be a problem.

good luck.

Not this time, but if you've got specific questions I'll try to answer them for you.

I am consulting/helping? another forum member who is trying to locate some power seats. I plan on helping him out long distance.

Maybe we can pursuade him to take some pics. What about it Gordon??

When I get around to it I would be happy to document the steps. I plan to take some before and after pictures of my Hella E-Code upgrade once I get the headlights. I have seen where others are interested in the difference between stock and E-Code light pattern. I plan to take pictures from the drivers perspective since that is where it matters. One thing at a time! Unless that is someone has a drivers side power/memory seat sitting around? /images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Do the power seats adjust lower than the standard seats?
