Well add me to the list 30,000 miles on the clock and boom. Wife just putting around town and boom dies on her while she is driving. Just got word yesterday it was the HPFP.

Who is the government agency we have to call about this?

Also I will be selling/trading it in cause I won't be able to afford the fix when it happens next time. (I literally join and will be a ghost to you all in a weeks time, lol)

Sorry to hear about this.

Let us know what the dealer says in why the HPFP failed.

The more I hear about this the more I want to sell my 09 TDI (35,600 miles) and go
buy a 2011 Jetta SEL.

TROLL!!!

Kidding - I'm sorry to hear about your loss. There are some great choices in vehicles out at the moment. Unfortunately very few diesels, but you will find some great fuel econ, performance, and reliability without any help from VW.

Well the dealer has been great. It's all covered under warranty. No complaints there. York PA VW has been great. I am in the process of seeing how much they will buy it back from me. I'll update as time goes on.

Ask any questions you want.

Kthackst,

Build date would be nice to know.

Service history? VW schedule?

Finally, use of any fuel additives?

Build IIRC it was early 2010. I thought I was safe being a later model at the time of the original failures. ( I'll get you an exact date before I get rid of it)

Every 10,000 miles serviced at VW. No other issues. (trans shifted hard every once in a while, auto)

No fuel additives. I thought being in south PA practically md I wouldn't need anything for cold weather. The only thing ever in that guy was diesel.

Most CR TDI owners are using additives for increased lubricity not for cold weather issues. I add a quart of B100 and 4oz of PS to each tank for lubricity..

Sorry for your failure. Keep us posted. Good luck.

I also have a 1997 Mitsubishi GSX that crankwalked if anyone knows what that means, another hugely critical failure. Lol I should buy a bicycle.. Or a unicycle for less parts to fail.

Here's legislation.

Web exclusive posted Jan. 21, 2009, at 10:50 a.m. CST

Pennsylvania Gov. Edward Rendell announced Jan. 15 that the state has met the first in-state biodiesel production threshold of 40 MMgy. As a result, within one year every gallon of on-road diesel sold in Pennsylvania must contain a minimum of 2 percent biodiesel.

Pennsylvania House Bill 1202, which was signed into law July 2008, established a state renewable fuels standard, which requires biofuels percentage increases to occur as in-state production for biodiesel and ethanol reach certain levels.

Under the legislation, all retail diesel fuel sold must contain:
2 percent biodiesel once in-state production reaches 40 MMgy

5 percent biodiesel once in-state production reaches 100 MMgy

10 percent biodiesel once in-state production reaches 200 MMgy

20 percent biodiesel once in-state production reaches 400 MMgy

I am interested in this replacement pump. Has anyone tried replacing pumps? If so what pump? Are diesel pumps different than gas pumps?

Just curious. Did you provide a diesel receipt from your last fillup(s) to your dealer? Or did they just assume warranty repair and never gave it another thought?

If Option #2, your dealer is an exception in the VW universe :D

Really? How many 2011 TDIs have failed? I looked at this list in the lawsuit and almost all were 2009/2010. I think I saw maybe one 2011. Seems like the problem isn't as severe with the later models. I say this hopefully since I have a 2011 Golf TDI...

We had it towed in via roadside assistance. They told us it was a bad tank of diesel. Waited a week my wife gets a call simply stating the fuel pump was bad. After I changed my pants from soiling them, (not in a good way). I knew what this meant.

They explained they were replacing "alot of stuff" under warranty. I started naming parts and he kept saying yes. So I said thanks and hung up.

This is really starting to bother me. If you really had 2% bio running in this thing for most of its life and it still bombed then I'll be more tempted to unload mine before warranty comes up.

How long did it run before it died? Did you get the last tank of gas at a new or shady place? Maybe it really was a bad tank of diesel that was contaminated.

She filled up that day. But I did notice it was running with like a miss or a whine leading up to the failure. It's hard to explain but I'd really didn't like 70 mph the week before it grenaded. It was like a harmonic on and off of power at 70 mph. At that point I knew something was off. So it didn't surprise when it failed on her or the cause.

If you would, please report the failure to the NHTSA.

Notice that it's not a fair comparison. 2011 is out less than a year or just a year. Give it another 2 years and compare how many fail with # of 2009 fails at this moment.

If it was a bad tank of fuel, it doesn't matter if you were running 2% bio, Stanadyne additive, or KY jelly before that bad tank of fuel...

With the way VW has been this whole time, you really expect anyone to believe that VW comped this is if there was bad fuel- seriously
