I have been driving this car daily for several months and nearly 9k now.
It got as low as 33mpg at winters coldest here in MN. Mpg has been creeping up as the temp does the same and now I seem to be getting about 40-43 in town. A recent short trip test at 60mph yielded 55mpg! All in all I'm pleased with the swap and glad I did it. Thanks for looking, Jason.

It is a 1z but it seems as though I don't have a picture without the cover. I will try to get one soon. It's stock in every way. All the wiring/plumbing reach along stock routes without any cutting or splicing. When I did it I was amazed at how similar the two cars really are. The passat k-frame was the only part from the passat that I actually couldn't use. Pretty much everything else could be either bolted straight in or slightly modified and bolted in. The front cross member needed the tow hooks removed but the hooks on the Corrado are on the bumper so no loss there. I had to trim the core support to accept the Passat radiator. Those are the two biggest mods I remember making.

Very nice. So you used a B4 parts car and the engine, trans and wiring harness bolted right up?

now you need to put a Ko3/Ko4 hybrid turbo, nozzels, and a tune and you will have a FAST car and a nice handling car...

I think you will have to wait at least 14-16 more years before I build anything for anybody else :)

Nice! as much as I love to do TDI swaps I would hate to see a G60 dismembered!
Not much of a VR6/5 fan though.. never actually driven a V5 but cant be much better!
Never had a G60 myself, although we did have a guy from canada down on vacation or somthing with a B3 Passat wagon in the shop a few weeks ago, had a G60 FWD swap and was alot of fun to drive. had a rear wheel bearing go out we had to fix for him

I had every intension of keeping the car a G60. I have a spare short block (bought from G60ING about 8-9 yrs ago.) Also have a new set of JE 9:1 83mm forged pistons and total seal rings bought about the same time. Had a quaife as well but sold it.
But with gas going no where but up I always "wanted" to put tdi in her.
Will it happen? Don't know, I want it too. but I don't have the space to work on it nor the time and skills. (Tools and experience is what I am missing)

Thanks for the interest. It is in fact blue. The car was a G60 so the 1Z is heavier. It would probably handle better if it hand SLC springs but it's not bad. It is a bit of a kidney puncher though. We have worse roads than Baghdad here so it may be just that.
My other car has been getting more of my attention lately but this one is starting to make demands. I am waiting on parts from ID right now to fix a slew of little things. Today on the way home from work the brakes started to act up. It's my daily driver so it's generally the priority. I'm on my way to check it out now. I've put 22K on it so far and overall it has been quite reliable and gets about 42mpg as an average.

That is pretty awesome. What year is the G60 you have there? And what year was the donor car, just out of curiosity and desire for more projects :D

resurrecting this one because I would also like to know what year the Passat was. although there's probably not many differences within that mid-90's body style, I just don't know anything about Passats. Anyway, I've got a friend here on island that has a mid-90's passat tdi with a smashed rear quarter, I also have a 90 Corrado that I'm dying to drop a tdi in...

great work, I may be coming to you with questions in the near future!

great thanks for the info, I was under the assumption that all of the passats were longitudinal...
keeping my fingers crossed I can find a b3/4 tdi for cheap, waiting for my buddy to get back from vacation to see if he has one..
