I don't necessarily think it's a ROI from fuel savings that would motivate one to do this. The EGR cooler on my CNRB is leaking internally, and I'm already deleted and tuned. EGR cooler alone from VW in Canada is $2150 plus tax. Sure, a bunch of people still have the extended warranty, but I would much rather just completely delete the hunk of junk and not have to worry about future problems. I would not be looking at it from a fuel savings perspective in my case.

My cooler has been leaking internally and sending coolant into the intake as well. Started out as having to add a bit of coolant every couple months to every few weeks. Since the problem started, I have gone though probably at least 5 gallons of coolant. I wish there were enough competent people around where I am that could fabricate up what your buddy did. Closest TDI mechanic is 3 hours away, and I've been trying to get my Touareg in to get looked at for 6 months with no luck. I wouldn't trust any shop near me with engine repairs, let alone off the cuff modifications lol; so I hope I can get my hands on one of these GMW kits.
How did you determine the EGR cooler was leaking? Oil test? I am using a small amount of coolant, not much.

my egr failed. Started sending coolant down the intake pipe. I had a stage 2 without the deletes. So we removed it and now ordering the delete program. I have a tunezilla so I can reprogram it myself.

Dimitri (SUSTDI) has been great to work with... I just ordered the full delete/bypass for my cayenne and a full valley reseal kit - dealer replaced EGR cooler but I still have a small coolant leak in the Vee. Super responsive!!!

Why doesn't Darksids EGR/Cooler delete kit need these pieces?
GDM kit was intended to clear a longer cp3 pump which they decided not to sell. the willy wonka piece deletes the bypass valve. and move it out to accomodate a longer pump. its an interesting design, but not worth even thinking about it. i lost way too many brain cells trying to deal with GDM.

I did not realize till now that the CNRB did not have a CP3 upgrade kit available.
That kind of sucks.

I assume you all went with Malone on the tune? If that's the case, with their off-road package, did you all need to get all hardware in place first? Or did they allow you to do it in stages?

you can run egr off in tune with or without cooler or blockoff plates.

I understand, i mean DPF, as I know the pipe needs to be installed first, so I was hoping that I could get the Offroad package and have them disable egr first, and then DPF later after the parts are installed.

If you purchase the credits and the tuner, you can install them in stages. For my A7, I bought the tuner to be able to switch back to stock if needed, or do updates. On the second car I did, I just rented it. I need to compare oakes vs malone some more - Oakes can really tailor the tune how you want - Malone is a bit more all or nothing (EGR is the only exception). I need to see how the readiness monitors compare.

You can do it piecemeal with malone no problem. you only pay the difference in cost on tunezilla.
thats exactly what i did on my touareg. I had egr off only. then my adblue ****ed up and i did egr+adblue off.
Then i did dpf delete and did everything off.

swirl flap doesn't matter.

Pics of the former kit installed.

I have a ‘14 Q5 Tdi w 83k miles that just fell out of EEW this weekend. I already ordered Malones stg 2.5 with full delete and I’m looking at Rawtech delete pipes. Would this SUSTDI kit work together with this setup? What exactly should I be getting additional to the 2 kits I got?
TIA

hey guys, can someone post a picture of which vacuum lines have to be capped exactly? Greatly appreciate it.

LOL... what component are you deleting that has one or more vacuum lines going to it?
Chances are, those are the lines you are asking about. ;)

EGR cooler, the reseal and EGR bypass kit for SUStdi has two 4mm silicone caps and there is only vacuum tube that's left hanging after the delete

Interesting... so there's an actuator on top of the EGR cooler with a vacuum line on it, and there's the coolant bypass valve with another.....
Would you like some help counting how many vacuum lines you have "hanging" after deleting all those?

New member, with a similar problem on my 2013 Touareg TDI. My EGR cooler failed again - twice in 3 years. At a cost of $4000 to fix I am reluctant to fix it this time. There is not emissions testing in my area so I am considering a EGR cooler delete. However, the website for SUSTDI shows the kit but you can't order it. Rawtek does not show a kit so I ordered it from Darkside Developments. But when I check my order it says it has't shipped as it is not in stock. However, the same notice says it will be shipped tomorrow. And in another spot is said the kit is discontinued. Anyone know if you can still purchase these kits?

Not shown in this pic is the vacuum feed line down to the active engine mounts, if your vehicle has them. It would continue on from the open end connection at the far left of the pic.

Solenoid 1 controls valve 3, neither will be required post-delete.

Solenoid 2 controls valve 6, you'll not need the solenoid, the valve will just remain open (default).

EGR cooler failures aren't that common on the CNRBs (internal leaks). External valley leaks from oil cooler/bypass valve/EGR flange/etc are common. Find a real mechanic, a valley reseal shouldn't cost anywhere close to $4k to fix.

Both the first EGR cooler replacement and this recent diagnosis were at two different dealerships. Not sure how much more real a mechanic I can get. Would be a relief to learn it was only a reseal.

EGR cooler has nothing to do with oil.... Maybe that's real enough for you.
Get yourself a cheap borescope and identify your own leak source.

If oil and coolant are down, Check the oil filter housing which is also the thermostat housing. Seen a couple of those leak into the valley and front of the engine and people mistaken them for the EGR cooler.

EGR coolers fail all the time on CNRBs.... they clog up. And the warranty extension isn't going to pay someone to take it all apart and clean it out. They also evidently don't pay the techs enough to properly do the job, which is why I have to redo so many, with exhaust leaks all over the place on top of the engine, broken connectors, missing fasteners, etc. A real mess.

The "clogging" is not the same as what dude is saying his failure is.... I even went as far as specifying which kind of leak I was referencing.
His reported symptoms are not those of reduced EGR flow\function.

I still believe a proper and correct diagnosis is required, but it doesn't really matter since he's deleting now anyways.
