Thanks! I'll take a look. I have a good relationship with a shipper so this may be something I want to persue. A B5 or E46 diesel Wagon would be fun.

Peter, How would a B5 wagon be substantially more desirable than a B5.5 wagon?
The A3 wagon desire is understandable because the A3 hatch and sedan were good cars.
The B4 wagon had the same attributes as the B4 sedan.
Unfortunately the B5.5 wagon had the same annoyances as the B5.5 sedan on which it was based and I presume the B5 as well.
The B6 wagon I had, even though not TDI in the US, was a far better total package than the B5.5 TDI wagon.

Maybe it isn't. But rotary vs PD engine, manual transmission that was intended for the vehicle, no balance shaft are the big reasons. And I like the styling of the B5 more than the B5.5.

But poking around on the sites suggested makes me think an Audi B5 A4 TDI would be a great alternative. And they're older, eligible for import now. I was looking in Spain thinking cars may have less rust. There are some nice A4s available.
