OK guys, I have a 1996 B4V in need of some help. The alternator is not producing enough juice to charge the battery. Took it in had it tested and its kicked the bucket. I guess I cant complain, car has 286,000 on original alternator.
So I call everyone around, noone has one.One place says they can order it, so they do. Comes in NO dice, wrong plugs, and in differant locations. So now I am stuck with noplace to go. I need this car for tuesday to get to work.
Now what I am curious about, do I have to use the 120 amp alternator? or can I do with a 90 amp unit? See big thing here is the car is VERY soon to be retired, if only the body would hold up as well as the drivetrain. So in general I just need a temporary fix/unit to buy me a few more weeks.
I dont use the cruise control, AC is not working due to bad hard line by condenser, Only use vents and headlights etc. and the radio. So in the fact of its soon retirement, and needing a alternator asap. Can the 90 amp unit do the trick???
