I have a 2002 VW Golf TDI, and I recently installed a new alternator in my car by Bosch
When the car is running the multimeter results at around 11.6-11.7 volts when it should be 13.5+. However, I’m debating whether it’s my pulley that’s gone out or I have bad wiring. Anyone been through a similar situation? If so, could ya’ll tell me some advice on where to start?

Why did you think you needed a new Alternator?
Is the battery fairly new?
When you check voltage, are all accessories off and park brake up?
Are all the fuses on top of the battery in good order?

Here’s the funny thing, all of today I’ve been diagnosing the car figuring out the issues. Until recently I managed to get the alternator from not charging. My previous mechanic who installed the alternator for me had left the ground cable finger tight onto the alternator, I understand working on the alternator in these cars are a pain in the ass, however that’s not right. Regardless, I placed a new battery that is oem from Volkswagen for my car. Now the car runs great without the abs go off and the battery light. I hope my new alternator isn’t screwed up, considering I had a crap Kirkland battery in there for a while. Point of reference, the fuses are all good alternator is new and battery is new. Hopefully all goes well.
