I installed mine yesterday... they're awesome! The only thing I noticed is that the clutch pedal when sent to the floor now presses on the mat which changes the clutch feel ever so slightly, I'll get used to it. I'd post a pic but mine look exactly like yours šŸ˜›
I will see if I notice the clutch pedal as you say, I have driven it but have not noticed anything. You will like them have them in 3 other vehicles with zero complaints.. Enjoy!

If you find a set of the rubber OEM ones many TDI's came with, they are great mats for winter....
Many dealers included a carpet set and the rubber ones as a way to up the purchase price, but honestly I was happy to have both in the end.. carpet fur summer, rubber for winter.
Skip the cheap Amazon carpet ones ..have bought a few different sets for different cars over the years, they are always garbage... barely 3 month/3000 mile trash.
Unless you send close to $100 like the weather-tec, OEM, etc, most mats are basically disposable decorations
The mats that came with my 2014 JSW that I bought from the VW dealer near me (used) had them. Very well made and heavy.
You usually get what you pay for. ;)

Kudos to Robert at Pierce Family Auto in Denton, TX for donating a set of OEM monster beetle mats from a parts car out back. Put them in the '06 Golf and they look and fit great even with the Beetle emblem. No more dusty carpeted floor mats. Have a set in my wagon as well.

Only experience that I have had with Weathertech mats was in my daughter in-law's Tahoe and a few years back. They fit good but the upper edges of the mats sort of curled up a little bit and didn't stay against the contour of the floorboard well. Others may not have had the same result.

I have seen that on some too, could probably be reshaped with a heat gun.
