So I know about the remote hold down rolls them all down and the key turned in the door But what would cause all the windows to roll down when the cars left in the sun? there isnt any temperature safey setting or anything is there?

If the Jetta is parked in the garage or way up in the driveway so its go some shade its fine. Leave the car in the direct sun and ill come home to all the windows rolled down.

Any ideas? could it still be the driver door switch like some post talk about?

I'd bet money on the door switch - unless you've reconfigured something, the remote doesn't control them anyway. No temperature sensors like that. I had a brand new aftermarket door lock module that would roll all the windows up and lock the doors when you closed it or lightly bumped the handle.

So your thinking the drivers door lock mechanism? Ive replaced the locking part that actuates the door lock(cheap amazon)

Or is this the part that holds all the buttons on the drivers door for rolling the windows down and up?

The door lock module unit inside the door. Interior window switches don't do anything when the car is off. Holding the key in the unlock position rolls all windows down (lock = up). One crappy switch and the windows will move on their own. Bang on the door handle to see what happens but I'd plan on changing it again. I did a Dorman and it took 2 to get a good one (not my car and this was the cheaper "name brand" option).

Thanks for the input ill mess with it some. Ive been on a road trip up to idaho so its not hot here now. I havent had the issue since Ive been on the trip. Cars sat in the sun all day. I wonder if it could be another car using the same freq too, just another thing to think about. I just got the windows tinted yesterday so ill see if has any effect when Im back in the heat, or if heat effected something in the door modual to cause the roll down.

These cars will not roll the windows down with the remotes without a modification (CCM programming). Only the key in the door lock. It wasn't until the newer generations that you could use vcds to enable that operation.

nope its just me, and my keys are just sitting on the counter.
my guess is one of the following is occuring:

1: the key buttons are smooshed, and occationally trigger the behavior by unintentionally sending the signal
2: the CECM/BCM is buggy/glitched/going bad

VW's do weeeeeird things when central electronics start to go wonky.
but i know my 2013 VW will randomly lock / unlock depending on how my key is sat in my pocket because the buttons are getting kinda smooshed

If you have a couple minutes it's easy enough to pull back the rubber boot for the wires going to the drivers door and look for anything fishy. The boot you see when you open the door

It didn't come that way from the factory and you can't do it with VCDS.

I did mine years ago using vdspro, pretty sure kw1281test could do it

My BRM will sometimes make the windows all go down sometimes when I use my remote to try to make the windows go up when I've cracked them all a few inches. The pinch protection kicks in thinking it's too much resistance and makes the windows go down.

Sometimes when parked, the window on the side where the sun is won't work at all until it cools down.

I did do the VCDS mod to be able to put windows up/down with remote.

that mod works with MKV and up - not MKIV. There used to be a little module you could buy that would flash the CCM to enable it and later someone posted the process mentioned by P2B above. Since the remote range sucks so badly, I never bothered!

It works, just not with VCDS. I have a MkIV and I did same mod to it when I bought it in 2005. I had to use older serial cable interface (k line I think) and something else besides VCDS. I think it was vdspro.
