ALH timing belt miracle

Customer brought in an ALH Jetta with 390k miles for a timing belt change. Here's what I found when I started taking the car apart:



Tensioned backwards :eek:



This was how loose the belt was when the car came in before disassembly. That is my index finger pushing down on the belt at the small upper idler. I can't believe this thing was running and driving fine.

Just thought some of you would get a kick out of this.

Clean and dump the intercooler, that thing never saw anything over 3K RPM! LOL!
