Has anyone used https://www.hansautoparts.com/Rebuilt220BarTDIInjectors-187.aspx ? I like the price more than ID parts and kerma XD

I'm looking at doing the .187 or .205 injectors in my ALH , the main question is will the 01M survive the extra power or will it explode sooner? The car has 200k with no real issues with the trans(yet), before anyone says anything yes I want to 5-speed swap it but I'm letting my wallet heal from the expenses of college, plus I have nowhere to try and do it at. I'm replacing the IP and might as well do injectors since I'm already having to bleed the system.

98 Jetta TDI AHU 1.9L (944 TDI swap in progress) I moved so now i got nothing but an AHU in a garage on a pallet.
.205s would be nice and happy with lots of boost. going with the stock turbo, go with the .187's and a light tune auto trans should be ok but not ideal.
if i was you, i would go with the .205's and get a proper tune for it knowing that you are dumbing them down with the tune. don't bother with a pump, no need unless your running more boost you can dial the fuel up
a lot can be done with a good soft <300 QTUG tires, a proper tune with light nozzles and a bit of forced boost from the stock turbo. oh and some nice Hawks HPA pads to boot. learn how to autocross and you wont be thinking you need the car to be faster! Unless you have $$$ to drop into some great mods!
been there, done that. stay out of the rabbit hole!

Isn't Hans that guy that sells incredibly poor quality parts that destroys engines? If not, disregard me.

Fairly sure, yes. There are a few dozen other ebay seller names and other shops he keeps swapping around from to dodge the TDI fuzz
OP go with kerma or malone or darkside ect......

"Rebuilt" from Prothe / HansAutoParts....for $300. I'd run, not walk, as fast as I can in the other direction.

I paid under $200CAD for a set of .205 Wuzetem nozzles direct from Poland (eBay), had them in 10 days, installed them on an old set of injectors, and while I was going to get a tune....I'm happy enough with the extra oomph (11mm IP on a 5MT swap) I get out of them as is that I may not.
I'm going to run through a couple tanks of fuel to see how my fuel economy is to make final decision.

Spare injector bodies aren't too hard to come by here.

Also, to your initial question: As something of preventative maintenance, I'd do a fluid change on the 01M transmission. It should help stave off failure of the 01M. I know there are lots of failures reported on this site, but my bro-in-law in San Diego got 465K miles out of his (2000 Jetta) before he got rid of the car (and the transmission was still working fine).

yeah, I did a fluid change like 5/6k ago, its been strong hasn't had anything. Also, I like the "his other ride" I work for trek.

It needs a new pump, I'm 19 and new-ish to TDI's/working on cars, but I like to think I know a little.
Long story short, I tried to replace the injector seals and now it doesn't run well/at all. Thankfully there's a TDI club trusted mechanic close-ish that can do the pump and recommended I do the injectors since the system is being re-bled. My end goal is to go somewhere to get a 5spd swap done so I can have it 100% dialed.

That's how good the Giant Propel SL is, I guess - even the Trek guy likes it. :D
Didn't quite say I liked it,I havent seen any bio's like that I got a good laugh.

I worked for giant briefly, good brand. But my 2020 emonda is the best road bike ive had.

I had a 5500 OCLV and quite liked it, but then the 6.9 I got after that....what a noodle. Couldn't wait to get rid of it. Of course, that was like 12yrs. ago, so I'm sure they've figured things out.

[....trying to steer back on topic....]
So, yeah - pm me if you want some injector bodies. :)

How do you know the pump is bad? Are you referring to the in tank pump or the Injection Pump?

The injection pump, I replaced the upper/lower quantity injector seals. It starts, but rev's high and smokes a lot, I turn it off to not have it smoke.
I had it towed to a Volkswagen shop but they said it needs a new pump, I'm not to sure about that but I'm waiting to take it to a better TDI specialist further away

wildn,

So do you have VCDS? Have you checked IQ and pump timing on your rebuild job? If you're planning on keeping and
working on the car, that's the first thing you should buy. Run away from the hansauto, buy some Wuzetems;

Or do what I did before they became available in USA and Nuje has just done, get them
from Ebay uk. .205s with an 11mm pump, with or without a basic tune, will wake the car right up.

The cam on the QA could have been bent or move a bit. I would send it to a qualified shop to have it rebuild you have an auto right? So it's a 10mm, worth rebuilding properly.

If it's an auto, it should be 11mm from stock, 10mm was on manual cars factory.

I'll check if that happened, I haven't had time in the last few weeks to check what's up, but I do have VAGCOM.
The main thing is I'm struggling to find the time and money to fix it, I just had the TB done and now the pump may have taken a crap.
I'm debating on just cutting my losses, but I do love the car.

If it turns out to be the pump, contact DFIS in Portland. Their record is stellar and I have done business with them a few times. I have one of their rebuilt 10mm pumps and nozzles as well.

There are just too many to list....
DFIS can get the pump PROPERLY rebuilt, and they can rebuild/upgrade your injectors, too. That's where I send all my stuff. They do good work, never a single issue, and I've sent them a LOT of ALH stuff. Both my ALHs are rocking their rebuilt pumps.

OK, so you took the top apart and it misbehaves...from what I understand about how that effects IQ, and how silly-sensitive to the position of those parts, what says VCDS on the IQ numbers? All the re-seal stuff I'd call complete go through adjusting the IQ after tearing the top off.
cheers,
Douglas

Do new all injectors need to be recalibrated if new tips are installed?

Sometimes you can get away with not having them balanced, but I always lean on the side of caution and just have then built by a diesel shop.

IIRC, DFIS charges $34 or $37 to mount and balance nozzles. I would definitely not try to mount them myself. A shim as thin as 0.001 one-one thousandth of an inch will make a huge difference in whether you engine runs well or runs okay, or even runs away to it's untimely death.

Just in case enough people haven't made it clear enough... That's is the infamous prothe. Those will ruin your engine!

It cost me $100 to have all 4 calibrated at a local diesel shop. totally worth it in my opinion. I thought about doing it myself, but for the $100-$150 it cost to do it I figure why, not it's not worth chancing it. Especially since I don't have vcds.

If your thinking about tuning, and a manual trans maybe look into pp520's or 764's as nozzles. Mate your 11M pump with a manual trans, pp520's+, and a stage 2 or 3 tune, and the car will be a blast!
With the set up I have right now I am getting a 8ish sec 0-60. I can hold down my brothers v6 grand prix till about 60, then he gets that top end hp, and he leaves me. I also left a v6 mustang behind (yes we both knew we were racing, and i still won lol).

Absolutely, I'm still learning about TDI's, but for the peace of mind knowing I didn't break my car it's worth it XD.

I'm looking at getting the most life out of my TDI until it gets unreasonable to fix it, by a shop or my limited resources. So far it's been solid, I re-did the suspension/bushings now it's on to a 5-speed swap then more power upgrades but mostly stage 1-1.5 set of mods for max MPG and to wake it up.

I'm familiar with DFIS, but what is IIRC?
Also about how much was the pump rebuild, I had a local VW shop quote me $1300 to have it sent off and rebuilt, then another $1200 to install it
