I've recently purchased a 2003 Jetta GLS that had dropped a valve, it came with a running golf that was totaled. I swapped the engines over a the past 2 weekends and ended up with a running and driving rust free GLS, and a hurt ALH sitting on a stand waiting for me to spend way to much money on. I would like to build this spare engine for ~300hp with a set of compound turbos. I'm a HD Diesel mechanic by trade and I'm in school for High Performance Motorsports, so I have a fairly decent understanding of fabrication, diesels, and compound turbo setups. I've done quite a bit of research and come to the consensus that I'll want somewhere in the .300 range of injectors, 11mm pump, need head studs and h beam rods bare minimum, and need some sort of hybrid or reworked High Pressure turbo.

My big questions are
1. what HP turbo? gtc1549vz? gtd2060vz? some sort of magic reworked VNT?
2. I have some sort of weird hyper fixation on making parts the best and most efficient they possibly can be, what sort of things need done to the IP? Should I just bolt a 11mm on and run it? Put some 10mm parts in a 11mm and make some hybrid super pump?
3. just sell it all and buy something normal people enjoy?...
