Fuel injection pump top cover was pouring, and I was unable to find any shop that would touch it,(they told me to go to Dean McCrary..$$$) so I read a few posts on here and installed new seals. I lined everything back up to my scribe marks, but must still be off. the engine has a slight stumble now, and surges on deceleration.

I have an aftermarket cheap-o cable and downloaded the vag-com software. I can read & clear the codes, but thats all I'm able to get to, nothing else will connect for me. I plan on buying a good one from vag-com in the near future.

Hey everyone,

Its good to see some more TDI's in AL. I've owned 2 so far. My current is an '01 Golf that I've owned since new. Way to much to list thats been done to it. Currently thinking about the VNT 20 as my next mod. My parents and sister all drive TDI's also. Altogether we've owned 3 '98 TDI Beetle's, an '02 '05 and a MK5 '05 Jetta's, and my Golf. You could say we like TDI's. I'm from Birmingham but I'm currently deployed with the Army to Iraq. When I get back I'll be finishing college at Auburn. Would like to meet up with anyone that would like to and talk about our cars when I get back next summer. On the civilian side I work on cars to pay for school and such in Pelham. Anyone that needs work done should check out Munich Sport. The tech there really knows his stuff and has helped me with my car numerous times. He's mastertech certified and has also worked on numerous TDI's. All Munich works on are european cars so they know there stuff. Another alternative is Hutchinson Automotive in downtown B'ham. My dad knows the owner pretty well but I've never done business down there with them. Joey

Thank you for the support!! I've been lurking here on the forums for a couple of years. I've joined 3 times but can never remember my username or password. Not much of a poster I guess. I forgot to add that I do have VagCom but my computer is here with me but I will have it when I get back. Paul, the mastertech at Munich Sport also has Vag Com. I'm pretty sure he'll have to charge to scan your car though. Hey he's got to make a living to! wmahaffey check your PM! Joey

Moving to Huntsville

I've been a long time lurker of these forums, now I have a reason to post in the South Eastern page. We are moving to Huntsville sometime in the next two to three months. Moving from Virginia as a result of BRAC. I just wanted to get a feel of the TDI community in Northern Alabama, Southern TN. Any insight on the dealer/stealer(ships) in the area?
Thanks in advance, looking forward to bringing another TDI into the state. The more the merrier.

Thanks

Welcome to the Rocket City, I think you will find a strong gathering of TDIs in and around the area. I drive from Athens to Redstone every day and I couldn't live without mine. I think we could easily plan for a Get-together if we could get more owners on this website. I see multiple TDIs every day, and not usually the same ones. Maybe some window clings, etc would spread the word.

Located in Huntsville, Alabama. I have a 2002 VW Golf Tdi Diesel which I very much appreciate. I am in the process of pulling my own maintenance especially changing the oil. We have in Huntsville a good maintenance facility at the dealership on University Drive however, If I can do it myself, I feel I am much better off. If anyone that has a common interest in this effort and/or VW tdi in general, please contact me. This Larry ~ larrymcfall@comcast.net .
You need to jump into our club. Just go to www.h2otuning.com located in the Huntsville area with chapters thoughout Alabama.

I saw a black Jetta TDI on Rideout Rd / I-565 recently blowin' some black smoke and it had the H20tuning decal on the back glass, have any ideas on who the driver may be?

Montgomery-- AND a Dealership Connection

Just caught the thread--- (Why didn't I see it before???)

Good to see that there are lots of TDI club folks in Alabama.

I've been with VW for about 2 1/2 years and have moved to Montgomery where I work for Jack Ingram Vw in sales. (Doing my part to spread the TDI obsession).

I would love to have some kind of GTG, perhaps at the dealership, in the spring or summer. It would be a good way to swap advice, stories and experiences. Montgomery is centrally located to most, and would be a great place to have a GTG.
Feel free to drop a PM and suggest a date.

Take Care,

Jerry

We have a black TDI in our club (superman54) but mine is dark blue. I have a H2OTuning sticker in the front and an Upsolute sticker over my breaklight in the back. Would love to see ya'll join our forum and maybe our club (www.h2otuning.com). We are having a dyno day at Trackmasters in Huntsville on Jan. 27th if anyone wants to come by and meet some of the clubmembers. :D

I'll be back out on the road in no time in a blue '01 TDI Bettle. It's currently at Hutchinson getting long needed work done and a new timing belt. This is my third VW diesel...the first being a 1980 Rabbit, then a 2004 Jetta TDI PD (traded in for a Volvo S60R in the summer of '05), now the '01 Bettle. See you on 280 boys and girls.

Thanks
I'm in Foley. I don't work independently on TDI's, but I'll be glad to assist you if I can. I have the TB specialty tools and have changed TB and all supporting parts/bolts/rollers/tensioner/water pump on my own '02 ALH engine.

Chelsea area as well. I think I put Birmingham for locality purposes.

Sourmash,
I use Hutchinson as well and I think they do a great job. I think they keep a high level of trust with their customers.

My previous TDI passed on (sob sob) but I'll be okay. Currently running a 4motion Passat and looking for a Beetle. I've yet to see any TDI's in the area for purchase that weren't ubar over priced.

DonohooAuto has a Beetle with 84000 and are asking 14k for it. Zoikes!

Thanks for the list RollTDI. If I can be of assistance to anyone with an A3, I've collected a few specialty tools from making repairs to my car.

Everytime I go to Mobile I see at least 1 TDI, I guess not too many are aware of this site.

JettaSS,
You'll probably see me around some, I take exit 4 in Grand Bay to and from work every day. I also make my way through Grand Bay occaisionally. I live just north of Dawes Rd. If you ever need a hand, let me know.

Hello,
Newbie here! I live in Mobile, AL (Tillmans Corner area). I am currently searching for a new model Jetta, Tdi. I'm not worried about high mileage as long as things have been taken care of. I'm glad to read that there are a number of club folks that live close by. It seems that the timing belt issue is something to be closely considered for the higher mileage vehicles.

My wife and I spend a lot of time flying and camping (have diesel motorhome for sale). We have been selling off our fleet of 6 vehicles in preparation to go tdi. If we're happy with the tdi thing...we will probably purchase 2 new ones next year.
