Airbox Thermostatic Flapper Valve Part Number

Anyone have a part number for the flapper valve in the bottom of the air box? Mine is failed open, and I'd be curious of the replacement cost before I just shim it closed. The VW parts fiche I'm looking at does not show this as an available item when looking at the air box diagram.

I once inquired about this part at my local VW dealer but I was promptly advised by the parts counter staff that the part can not be purchased as an individual unit.

You would have to buy a whole new air box to get the flapper.

Strange and disappointing. Glad I don't have to buy a new engine block when my coolant thermostat fails!

I too was hoping it was the actual flapper valve.

I believe that's what oilhammer was confirming. The flapper valve appears to only be available with the entire air box.

Correct, you have to buy the whole air cleaner assembly.
