Airbag light is on

Hello Everyone
2002 jetta 5-speed GLS 200k miles
I removed my leather seats . After I re-installed them I have an airbag light on . I messed with the conection a bit but , no avail.
I am coming up for a emission test and , somehow my CEL is not on !!
I was wondering how to fix this airbag light ?
Any insight would be greatly appreciated !

Take it to a shop or someone with VCDS to reset your airbag controller to clear the codes.

You should pass state inspection with the air bag light.

Light is on probably because the ignition was switched on when the seat was out. Quick reset with VCDS should do you.

CEL sets when there's other body issues, like transmission and air bags, with a CEL on it won't pass.

NYS will pass a car with an airbag light on. But not the CEL

Thanks I do not have a CEL currently.

I will drag the vagcom out tomorrow and try resetting it . I thought that I had reset it when it first happened.

My 2003 is doing the same thing, and I did move the car without seats in it.
I have vagcom, how did you reset yours?

Go into the airbag module and push the clear faults button.
