Airbag Light and Fault Code Interpretation Needed

After several months of the airbag light coming and going, it finally stays on all the time.

This is what my shade tree mechanic registered on his scanner:

2 Faults Found:

02513 - Belt Force Sensor for Seat Occupied Recognition (G453)
003 - Mechanical Failure - Intermittent - MIL ON
01218 - Side Airbag Igniter; Passenger Side (N200)
001 - Upper Limit Exceeded - Intermittent - MIL ON

He reset the light, but it came back the next day. I might add: no accident or messing with the seats ever.
What can I do to fix this?

It would be very helpful if we knew what kind of car you are talking about. It makes a difference whether it is a 2001 or a 2011 VW. No matter what, I would start by checking the wiring under the passenger seat. Some VW models had a recall to lengthen these wires because they got damaged.

Have Fun!

Mine is a 2006 Jetta. That's why I am posting in the MkV Jetta Forum, not the MKIV or MK VI Forum. Unless there were changes made to the harness or wiring during the MKV era, I assume they are wired all the same?

I thought sharing the exact fault codes would solicit someone's help: how the same or similar fault codes aided them in diagnosing and repairing the problem, rather than me probing around blind, without that knowledge.
