I know I don't "need" a lift pump but do I want one?

My car is a factory mechanical diesel so the tank just has an outlet and a return line and originally used an engine mounted lift pump. Some people say they use pumps and some do not. Is there a benefit for me to install a lift pump back by my tank? Easier to prime the system on first start, but anything else?

I installed one from a 6.5 GMC diesel. If it ever fails it free flows. I have a PD engine. I never used a pick-up pump on my other diesel conversions that used an injection pump (Isuzu 4bd1t and 4bd1t)

It will make it easier on the first start or if you ever need to remove the tandem pump
