Fairly new to this forum. Love all the info. I love the TDI's

I just sold a couple of 2.0 TDI's and am really interested in buying a T-Reg.
I am not familiar with the T-reg, but really like them. Found a nice 15.

Questions, recommendations on 15 versus 16?
if they have not been modified, do they get the $4 to $6K refund?
if not purchased thru the dealer, am i reading correctly that when fixed they will have an extended warranty on the complete drive train?
If already discussed link to thread?
having issues navigating thru the search feature.
thank you,

You are going to love it. Long term Mercedes diesel owner on several models.
Sold them all and I have a 2015 Passat TDI 6 speed M and New Touareg 2016 TDI Sport with tech .

16 vs 15 has the adaptive cruise and other driver assisting features. the rest is similar. Amazing vehicle with good fuel economy, if light footed you get 28-30 Highway . if you want to have fun 19-21MPG

I believe the tranny are different from the 16 to the 15.... My '16 has the Tiptronic 80spd and I think the '15 had the 6spd (DSG) Not so sure on that...

Please correct me if I'm wrong on the '15 tranny.

Thanks guys, I went and bit the bullet today.
Bought a really nice 2015 Touareg Lux in San Antonio. Paid right at $30K with 49K miles on it. It looks and drives great.

I also did some more reading on some other threads.

Question, it does not have the emissions fix done to it.
Is VW going to pay me $8400, to fix it and then give me a 4 yr , 48,000 mile warranty to boot?

My 2011 had the 8 speed trans, I doubt the 2015 or 2016 are different.

I doubt you qualify for the sorry money - but I think they will cover the emissions fix. I don't think it will hurt to ask the VWEmissions group.

I tried to register for the Phase 2 fix it money on my Passat. When I registered on the portal and went through all the steps it showed I was due $2500. I got an email a few days later telling me to pound sand because I didn't own the car when the diesel gate issue erupted. No, I don't think you will qualify for any money, but they will complete the Phase 2 fix free and give you the 10 year 120K mile warranty. I saw in those brochures linked by Gilty_one that the powertrain warranty on the 2015 and 2016 Touareg is 10 year 100K miles. My 2011 was only 5 year 60K miles.

I'm looking for a 2015-2016 Touareg, either new or under 35K miles. The new ones are mostly Lux models priced around $48K, but I'm also seeing some used and certified in the $34-$38K range. The benefit to new is that the factory warranties and the diesel gate warranty start now, so the vehicle would be covered for 10 years rather than 6-7 on a used one. I'm a little hesitant to buy a car that's been sitting for the past 3 years.

I'm one of those who bought one that sat around (since Dieselgate). Now I'm into my 4th month of driving it and still happy.
I plan to keep an eye out for silly things that fail (and take advantage of warranty) but for now - SO HAPPY with it....

I bgt a 2016, "new" never registered. It had 1500 miles on it when I got it so the dealer had it driven some every month, servicing when required by the book. Very happy with everything about the car,it is my second TREG. They did some tranny program changes which makes it drive differently on start up and while it warms up. Holds lower gears longer, then when it's warmed up it is about same as my 2012.

Well we have had our new 2015 Treg for about 10 days now.

I love the power this car has. My wife just took it up to Ridgway Co., Put 950 miles and over 3 mountain passes. She loves it. I am still trying to play catch up on all the threads on this site.
thanks everyone for you info.

I ended up buying a 2015 with 22K last weekend. The 460 mile drive home was fun.

I can confirm these generation cars have the 8 sp Aisin trans with tiptronic. Works great towing if you are into that.
