I have a 2002 Jetta TDI and was thinking of adding a second turbo. What other upgrades should I make before so my engine can handle the extra boost?

There are just too many to list....
You don't want/need that. With just one turbo, and a few thousand dollars, you can easily build an engine that will overwhelm the chassis, the clutch, the transmission, and make it a chore to drive. If you just want to make more power, a dual (parallel or series) turbo setup would be so far down the list that I'd not even bother thinking about it.

So many threads here on just this topic. Literally the next one down is basically the same. Bigger nozzles, bigger turbo, bigger fuel pump, bigger exhaust diameter, and a tune, and you will make a little 1.9 liter beast that will try to escape your engine bay. Not necessarily in that order, but do all that and you will turn your clutch into a puddle. Then do a clutch and you will be able to spin the tires in second with just the accelerator. Not a very technical description of power, but still. But just a note of caution, it's a slippery slope once you start.

GTB1756vk, Race 520's, PD lift pump, Malone custom tune, big down pipe, head studs 02M, 11mm pump, bigger SMIC, don't go compound... no need.

With GTB1756vk 11mm pump is not needed, stock will be fine bit over 300hp. But adding another turbo after stock one sounds 1000 times more better than lame gtb1756vk setup.

Compound turbos on the fwd platform isn't worth the trouble because of the space constraints.

That´s lamest excuse i´ve heard a long time. There are lots of space for compound especially with modern small turbos. I´d understand this comment that there are no bolt-on parts available for compound turbo, and that´s why it´s not done very often.

11mm is much better choice than 10mm, any day of the week, especially, if you're swapping out the 01m for an 02m... as it already has the 11mm with the auto. compounds are not needed. fun, but not needed. lots of fab work required.
