Adding a Key Fob

I have a 2005 Jetta Station Wagon that came with all three Keys. 2 remotes and a valet key. I want to add two more remotes. I did aquire two near new remotes, (Yes they have been used on another car). I have cut both new keys, I have been able to program the remotes to unlock the doors. Both of the new cut keys unlock the Drivers door. Both of the new cut keys will start the car, but the imobilizer won't let the car run on the new fobs. I also have the original Key code strip with the bar code on it and a seven digit code on it and on the back side is another series of letters and numbers. All remotes including the originals part number end in AM, and are very close to the same manufacturing date. Our local dealer says none of this will work and to buy NEW Fobs from VW. The dealer did not try to program the imobilizers as this was information over the phone from one of the dealers here in Orlando Florida. Can anyone shine some light on this situation?
Thanks for any information

IIRC you can have a maximum of four keys for the vehicle coded into the immobilizer at any given time.

You'll need to have a dealership program the immobilizer with the new keys. There are other ways of going about it but very few individuals can do this and the easiest option is to take it to the service department IMO.

I just went through a similar thing with the new-to-us 2000 NBTDI. Take to to the service department, spend an hour looking at new VWs and be done with it.

__. If you have the keycode, you can initialize keys with VAG-Com. See the Ross-Tech website.

I recently purchased some remotes and keys (and replaced the transponders). My dealer was able to program the immobiliser to recognise 5 keys on my MY2007 T5 van. For late model VW's the only way to do it is to logon to VW head office (mostly only dealers can do this).

Whoever you get to do this, remember to bring all your keys along, otherwise the keys you left home will no longer work after the programming.
