Are there any of the current Passat models with adaptive cruise control as an option? I didn't think that this was an option, but I was told that it was... this would certainly come in handy for long trips.
Yet another thing to set off my radar detector. I'm already hating the trucks that use radar to maintain a safe distance. Having said that thou I would love adaptive cruse.Adaptive cruise control uses radar to determine how close vehicles are in front of you, and adjusts the cruise control speed automatically to maintain a safe following distance if you approach a slower moving vehicle.
It may depend on the vehicle, but my wife has a radar detector in hers, which has adaptive cruise, and it does not trigger the detector. It also doesn't trigger my detector when she's behind me.Yet another thing to set off my radar detector. I'm already hating the trucks that use radar to maintain a safe distance. Use a Beltronics gx-65 (virtually same as new Bel pro 500 and Escort 9500ix)All these new BMW, Audi, and Mercedes are constantly setting of my Escort x50....drives me nuts!!!
I noticed this on my cross-country trip. If you have a Valentine One, you can disable X band, which I found helped a lot with the false alarms from radar cruise control. Cops don't use X band, and they very rarely use K (although some jurisdictions still do), which you can also disable or do auto-mute after X seconds.Yet another thing to set off my radar detector. Thanks, mine is a Valentine One as well. I guess I'll have to disable the X band.I noticed this on my cross-country trip. Easy work-around; just pay attention while you are driving and apply the brake.I think we can look forward to that sort of thing in the 2048 Passat.
Maybe.
Thanks, yeah I've tweaked a couple settings just need to do this one now. It also looks like they may have some new features I'll have to check and see if I can't get mine upgraded again. That will also help with the annoying automatic doors in shopping centers.
The programming procedure is outlined in the manual. You press and hold the button while plugging in the device until it beeps, then go through the steps. There are lots of options to choose from.

After spending 8 to 10 hours a day in my car on the highway activating/deactivating the cruise control, I think the adaptive cruise control is a very nice option..I feel that everybody that wants adaptive cruise control, blind spot sensors should just take a bus and leave the driving to somebody else. If I feel the need to relax to the point that I don't even have to pay attention on up coming traffic etc I should just hire a driver for me
