WOW! Looking at your numbers, your taxes and fees are almost $6000 on a $26700 car. makes me glad I don't live in Toronto.
Yep, pretty standard for most of us across the country, ~15% tax plus other fees. :D

Why pretty high? I'm looking at one with 7000 miles already on it as the new 2015s are all gone up here - anything I should be looking out for?
Interesting.. Early on when we were looking they said approval had not been given for dealer loaner 2015s to be sold. That must have changed. Next logical step would be reselling the 2015 buy backs.

I agree that 700 miles is a little high for a new 2015.
Does it come with the full warranty?

Depending on your viewpoint, 700 miles might even be beneficial since the car hasn't been sitting around.

I was just referring to the other posts in this thread - but that is also a good argument. The one I'm looking at actually has like 8000 miles, so I guess it would come with the 11 year emissions warranty if I did the fixes but only half, or less, of the basic warranty is left.

The Sportwagens are going fast around here, I was wondering if there was news on when the Audis will be released. My local Audi dealers knows nothing.

Quirk in NH had 80 at the start of the sales, all GSW were DSGs. I think most were SEs.

I believe the Audis can be sold as well, but there are no incentives on them.

My recent experiences:
Dealer in CO has a 2015 GSW SEL 6M. I contacted them on 4/29 and started discussion, then they stopped responding. At first I thought it was just that they didn't take me seriously or they were frustrated that I was trying to negotiate for a better price than 5K discount. I emailed, sent texts, called, no reply. I was afraid that this car was gone and they were afraid to tell me, since I had not officially put a deposit on it. Called the sales mgr and he said the car had my name on it on hold and that he would have the sales person call me.
She eventually did, and I asked again to get the finance approval going, and asked for pics of the car. She said she would do that but the car was in the shop undergoing its repairs. One week later, still no pics, no application for financing, ***?
I contacted her again and she had her sales manager call me. He said that he (they) were extremely embarrassed because I am the third customer they have had to inform that they likely cannot sell the cars to them. They'd been storing these in a grass area next to another dealer, and they had rodent deposits and damage. One guy actually walked away after his test drive due to the smell. The SM said that VW may not approve these cars to be sold, therefore they will be scrapped. I recall reading somewhere else about mice living in these stored cars.
Too bad.
The SM did me a favour though and checked other dealers. He said there are about 20-something 6M GSW SEL / SE left around the nation and most of them in the NY/PA/OH/NJ areas. He found one for me in Texas that I have contacted and they will start working on this car today to get it ready. They sent pics and informed me that they were in fact driving these cars once/month as VW has required.

Rodents really like the vegetable oil based wiring in the these cars. Good thing they discovered it before sending you down the road.

Yet another thing to demand the dealer to replace before driving off the lot!

I presume you mean the dead key fob battery, not the rodent eaten wiring... :D

Seriously, I paid a KBB used car price, I'm not disappointed or surprised the fob needs batteries.

That is a bummer, hopefully you get setup with the car from TX. The rodent thing is definitely an issue in certain parts of the country. My car unfortunately smells like moth balls instead of that new car smell. Dealer says the use moth balls to deter the rodents. Hopefully it worked!

Anyone know how to get rid of the moth ball smell? It's getting better, but it's still there.

Curiously, our GSW SEL 6MT from Philly was on hold for a guy from Texas that backed out when the wife said "not black". Hopefully yours works out, GSW with options and a stick seem a bit hard to find.

Moth balls.. ugh.. I'd think I was at our family lake house in the spring before we found out that dryer sheets worked just as well and didn't smell up the place.. How about the order eliminator sprays? I think Mequire's makes the one I use. It works well on my 2005 Durango that gets some heating system funk and the occasional whiff of the PO's cigarettes.

A dish of baking soda or kitty litter (clean of course:rolleyes:) might help to absorb the odor. You'd probably need the odor fighting kitty litter but then you'll also have the perfume they load it up with. Another option would be odor eaters or activated charcoal or just plain charcoal briquettes.

This is cross posted, but in the hopes that it helps out another member....

(Her) new TDI: 2015 GWS S 6MT from Lia VW in Enfield, CT
Sticker minus 5k, plus the usual fees, tax on the after-rebate total, and 0% for 72.
Pix and thread to follow.

I did a search for stick shift GSW's at every VW dealer in Mass, CT, RI, VT, NH, & Maine, plus most of upstate NY (Hudson Valley along I87 to Canada and I88 from PA to Albany), plus some of PA. There were 6 GSW with MT available. Of these, my wife bought one. Of the 6, three were only available b/c someone had backed out within the last 24 hours. The remaining 3 were available b/c they were not yet on the Dealer's primary lots- they were still at offsite locations.

Colonial VW of Medford: GSW SE (Tungsten?)
Prime VW of Portland : GSW S (silver?)
Rowe VW of Auburn: GSW S (white?)
Lia VW of Enfield: GSW S (white?)
Fathers & Sons VW of Springfield: GSW S (Dark blue?)

This search is now almost 4 days old, so some of these will be gone. Although the big volume dealers had more selection, the dealers that require more travel (and have a smaller buying population) seemed to offer a better shot at finding a stick. This may be true in other locations.

The stories each dealer told me regarding the efforts and travel that buyers were undergoing to get a MT were consistent in their message: The MT GSW's (and other MT TDIs in general) were the most sought after, and buyers were traveling long distances to get them. Color choices and option choices were pretty limited. There were a few other models out there, with the only really rare one being the MT TDI Beetle. "If you find one you want, put a deposit on it," was a common refrain.

Caveat: There are more MT's out there. The dealers don't always have a good grip on the cars that were stored offsite, and many dealers seemed to have one "diesel guy" who was the point of contact for overseeing their sales. When I did talk to this person (and I always tried to), they commonly had 3 messages:

1) "Let me check the other lot and the updated paperwork and call you back." This resulted in finding 3 MT TDIs that the initial salesperson said didn't exist.

2) "We have some that haven't had the fix done yet, so those will be for sale soon." Most dealers are happy to sell these and then fix them, others seem confused by such an idea!

3) "We think we might get more, but we don't know when." Hmmmm.

I found what we were (mostly looking for) at a place that had 3 GSW S in MT remaining. Two were at an offsite lot and the initial salesman I spoke to wasn't aware of them. The "diesel guy" for that dealership called me back and had to drive to the lot to confirm colors, trim, and transmission. The third was at the dealer lot, and had initially been held on deposit for someone 8 hours away (who found one closer). I offered to put a deposit on one, but the salesman assured me it would be there for us 12 hours later (it was).

BTW, the MT one on their lot had a new "sold" sign on the dash- someone else bought it in the few hours the dealer had been open and it had been available.

Oh, and she's keeping the ALH for now!

It is good to hear all these stories, glad your wife found a car she is happy with.

University VW in Albuquerque has a nice Jetta SE w/connectivity in a stick, moonrocj silver with cornsilk interior if anyone is looking for that car.

How are people searching for these? Not all dealers are using cars or autotrader.
I am going to NJ in July, maybe I'll look into dealers there and drive one back. The one in TX is not too far, it has driver assist package, no lighting package and it's white, 129 mi. I like white but would prefer blue or tungsten. Ah well, I think it's hard to be picky given the selection and distances. The product specialist said they had no mice problems.

Is driver assist package helpful at all?

Thanks! I have found the online sites to be about 90% incorrect for the Northeast- they might be better for other areas. I started out by visiting dealers in person (largely b/c many of the salesmen won't go outside and check on their stock), but common sense prevailed and I just started calling around.

I think driver's assist is a matter of driving style- I'd consider paying for the lighting package, but not for the driver's assist.

I searched by calling LOTS of dealers. I did stop by my local dealership, who said they had a silver GSW SE 6MT. I took it for a test drive and then they informed me it had a deposit. Then again, they are idiots there. I've tried to buy at least 4 cars there because they are close, but everytime something happens I get the car elsewhere. I also found all the online stuff useless for these cars, and yes, you had to talk to the right guy. I called 20+ dealerships, some I was able to talk the the 'diesel' guy right away and get a good idea of what they had, some took my info and said they would get back to me, of which a couple did, but most didn't. I ended up buying a car from a dealer about 80 miles away and am thrilled with it. Of course, a couple of days after I picked it up, my local dealer called me to say the car I test drove was available again! One other dealer called me back this week saying they had one available again because the original buyer had terrible credit. Just yesterday another called me back saying the used ones would be going on sale soon.

I don't think you will find much in NJ in July, maybe some used ones? I'm in southern NY, so called a number of NJ dealers and couldn't find much. But then again, you never know! It's always worth calling around, you might end up calling the right dealer at the right time. Good luck!

FYI--I am seeing used listing go up. If you're still in the hunt, it's probably time to call your dealers again.
