What's a little weird about this one is the lack of codes... the ECU is generally pretty sensitive to control inputs that could have a safety component, and generally flags accelerator issues with the dreaded flashing glow plug light.

That said, hard for the ECU to tell a normal idle signal from a "should not be idle".

By chance, any issues with your brake lights and/or brakelight switch? You'd need VCDS to watch both sets of contacts, but it's one thing that can make the ECU stick to idle and ignore the accelerator, which it will do if it thinks the brakes and accelerator are being pressed at the same time.
In my case also brake switch was replaced.. also bulb lamps replaced wiring checked..
And with brake switch in this ECU only affects if you are driving.... if you have speed signal.. you can simulate by pressing lightly the brake and accelerator pedal at same time.. accelerator stops responding.. but as soon you leave brake the accelerator starts responding again...

I this situation is different because it only resets if you press clutch or leave accelerator for 2 or 3 seconds..

Vince Waldon, yes, I tought the same thing at the beginning, but after a lot of controls with VCDS I decided to drive with the pc connected and recording live data. All pedals were ok and worked perfectly even during the SAF. Obviously, pressing the clutch pedal made the car back to work, so it was impossible to check properly.
GKnight ok, so you're suggesting to start my next try from the brown wire?

I have some photos on what I have touch when I stop having the problem..

The problem is on this area:

You can see in this picture that I have open the loom from the fusebox to clutch switch..
You see the clutch switch connector that I have replaced with yellow wires during the investigation..
But please observe carefully the brown wire that go from this connector to main loom and see in next pictures:

You cannot see in the picture but this brown wire was so bent inside the factory loom that was white on the pont it was bent like if it was broken... I tested the wire nevertheless I think in the position it stays it can loose signal...

Also like a told before I replaced at the same moment the fusebox and if there is a issue I suspect on the back side of the main nut for the positive see this picture:

I'm pointing where I think the problem can be in the fusebox:

Im my case I replaced the fusebox and put it on the Audi but both did not give anymore the problem...

Please carefully examine this areas because the fix is in this photos.. fusebox, main loom or wires from clutch...

Good evening
today, tired of the continuous SAF, I tried to solve it by following your precious advice... But I wasn't able to solve it. The only wire that seemed to be defective (or at least bent in a strong way) was this one:
I cut out the bent part, soldered and protected with heat shrink sleeve and rebuilt. I took my time and I did a good job, I also cut out all the wiring protection to let the cables free from tension or constraints. Other cables were perfect, connectors seemed perfectly ok. I rebuilt everything and.............. SAF didn't disappeared. What a sad story.
I wanted to try this way to exclude a problem on the fuse box, that will be my next try.

Yes it was the same with me... It is very frustrating.. I like so much the car, but this problem was very annoying.. also sometimes dangerous...
When I solved the problem I was so happy 🥹
O did not touch anything more till now to enjoy this fantastic car..

Please let me know your findings, if necessary I can confirm the fix by rolling back the fuse box with the Audi and see if it was a issue on the fusebox.. the Audi uses also a few fuses in diferente position and maybe could not make diference for the Audi and the different behavior for the Touran..
Also that brown wire from the clutch switch on the main wiring loom was very bad from the fabric... if you open the loom in that area you will see..
You mention that you changed windshield and if you take the metalic part for the firewall it touches does cables on the bending point on the back of the battery...
Mr. GKnight, thank you for very fruitfull advice, same problem with acceleration was resolved following your expertise and advice. It was problem in posite wires on junktion box, all positive wires cleared from correction and reinstalled, for now no problem with acceleration ;) VW Tauran 2.0 TDI automatic transmission 2004 .
