Thanks Graeme but I don't need this type of terminals, this type of terminals can be very easy ordered direct to vw dealer - these are some codes I know:
equivalent terminal for repair wire
000 979 131 <=> N 103 358 07
000 979 132 <=> N 103 361 05
000 979 133 <=> N 906 844 05
000 979 134 <=> N 103 189 05

The problem for me is that I need only gold plated terminals which unfortunately are not available through the vw dealer, so the only solution is to know te equivalent code direct from AMP/Tyco, and to find an online supplier which sales reasonable quantity like this one: http://www.masterdistributors.com/ordering/productdetail.cfm?pr=2372191 or http://www.onlinecomponents.com/buy/AMP-TYCO/963715-5/ and have them in stock.

So if anybody knows the equivalent code from AMP/Tyco of the vw repair wire gold plated terminals please help
000 979 009 A <=> 963715-5 or 962885-5
000 979 018 A <=> ?
000 979 023 <=> ?

000 979 131 A <=> 964274-3
000 979 132 A <=> ?
000 979 133 A <=> ?
000 979 134 A <=> ?
000 979 135 <=> ?
000 979 225 A <=> ?
000 979 226 A <=> ?
000 979 227 A <=> ?

Let's find the equivalent and put here the codes for those who need them ! (I will edit this post each time a new AMP/Tyco equivalent code for vw repair wire terminal will be found)

Has anybody updated more of these? I've been trying to match up the VW terminal part numbers to the VW repair part numbers. You can order a lot of them from the stealer, but the 000 979 009 you cannot. A master list of VW --> Tyco would be awesome!

Not yet - fuel is too cheap! - 3.2 VR6 R32
TYCO 963715-1 is the equivalent of 000 979 009 (Tin plated)

TYCO 963715-5 is the equivalent of 000 979 009 A (Gold plated)

Either of these are the best to order because they are NOT designed for a waterproof seal, so the end is then small enough to fit inside the cluster pins etc

I bought some through OnLine Components.

Have not been able to find a separate VW number just for the terminals.

:)

Well, I do have a good source for the VW part numbers here, however, not all match up to current part numbers through VW.

I'd like to be able to assemble a complete VW Repair Wire <==> VW Terminal <==> AMP/Tyco part number

The 000 979 009 match up you have is great, as it's one of the ones that does not properly match up with an active VW part number. There are a few others that I'd like to be able to find

I've started a spreadsheet that cross references the VW repair wire, vw terminal part number, tyco part number, and the vehicle wiring part number, however, I'm having an issue getting it posted and formated right. vBulletin takes out spaces, so I can't easily do it that way.

Anybody know an easy way to post it?

Yeah, I'd already seen those pages, (actually have it linked in my post above) which has gotten me started, however, they do not list the TYCO part numbers, which is what I'm trying to get a complete list of. Not much translation is really needed, since the text consists mainly of part numbers. Aside from which, I speak German, so not something I'm concerned with.

Two problems: 1) VW doesn't make all the terminals available as terminals only, many are repair wires. 2) Even if you have the part number, dealers aren't always able to get them in (European part number, etc).

With a master TYCO - VW cross reference list, you should be able to order the same parts from places other than VW, many times much less expensive. I've seen some of these parts run for $0.11 as a TYCO part, and $0.50 as a VW part. That may not sound like a whole lot, but when you are trying to work up a repair box, and have 20-30 of each termainal, and there are 18-20 terminals, it does add up.

AWSOME thread! I need the contact pins for 000 979 133 and 000 979 009 repair wires.

Online componets has the 009s(cluster pins) stock and it crosses to tyco 963715-1 but they want a $15 minumum order.That would be well over 100 terminals!

I believe the 133 crosses to 968107-1 but nobody has them in stock. VW dealerships do carry them under part number N907 647 01 but my nearest dealer is a hour's drive away.

Why does it have to be so hard and expensive just to buy some terminals!!!

Turbocharged,
I'm in the same boat regarding the cluster pins. I just ordered butt load of terminals from my dealer, but they can't get 000 979 009 in at all for whatever reason. I was thinking ordering some from Online Components (like 25 or 30 of them). To make the $15 minimum, would you like to order some with me, and I'll ship them to you when I get them? I just don't need 50 or more of them.

BTW, N 907 647 01 is the part number for 000 979 009, not 000 979 133, and my dealer doesn't recognized that terminal number. 000 979 133 corresponds to N 906 844 05.

Also, where did you get the Tyco part number for 133? I've only been able to track the Tyco number down for about 4 of the different terminals.

PM me if you are interested in group buy on the 000 979 009

I'm in for 25 or so of the cluster terminals. I can pre-pay via paypal if you like?

Perhaps posting the group buy publicly would be a good idea so we can keep track of who wants what. I'd be in for some others too...

Cheers,
-Chris

I placed an order a little while ago for 125 of the cluster pins. I only want 25, so the two of you have the next 50.

If you want to prepay, thats fine. It's $3.50 for 25 @ $0.14 each, plus lets say $1.50 to ship. Sound good?

You can paypal me at scubadivertim@gmail.com

As far as a proper GB, I guess I should have thought of that before I ordered just 125 of them. Oh well, next time.

How are we going to work out the shipping costs? Split it up between all the terminals?
Like I said, it'll cost $3.50 for 25 terminals. Shouldn't be more than a buck or $1.50 to ship wherever to you. They aren't exactly heavy. I can put them in small envelope and mail them to you when I get them.

Update on shipping costs. I just got an invoice from Onlinecomponents.com. They hadn't figured in the shipping costs when I checked out, they do that afterwards. Anyway, shipping for my $17.50 order were $9.09. That adds a little cost to each terminal. I figured it out, and that makes each terminal about $0.21 vs $0.14. If You are ordering more terminals, I guess it would be more cost effective, but it is still much less than what VW charges for terminals (between $0.50-$1.00 each).

That means, a batch of 25 of these terminals will cost $5.32, plus the cost of me to ship it to you, which I'm just guessing around $1 or $1.50, not knowing the weight of 25 plus packaging. For those who are wanting these, I'll give you the shipping costs when they come in.

Ditto! Thanks for offering this up!

-Chris
Guys, the pins came in yesterday. I can get them sent out this evening after work.

Okay, here is the math: Total with shipping for 125 pins was $26.59. That works out to about $0.21 per pin, or $5.32 for 25 pins. That's still less than the price for one repair wire from VW!

I'll ship them out in small bubble wrap envelope. I think I can grab those from work, so I'm not worried about the cost of those. I'm guestmating shipping at $1, plus paypal fees. I think $6.50 is fair for 25 of them.

You can paypal me at scubadivertim@gmail.com. PM me your address and that you've sent the paypal, and I'll get those out tonight.

Payment sent. Paypal should give you my address.

Thanks!

You know, $6.50 is what VW charges for ONE repair wire. Now I get 12.5 repair wires for the price of one!

This was the best finds ever!

Yeah, I know. I can't believe I've been spending money on repair wires all these years. $30 crimper and $0.14 - $0.55 terminals is a far better deal.

I've got your's packed up and ready to put in the mail box in the morning. Shipping labels are ready too.

Chris,
I've got yours packed up and labeled, but I'll have to hit the post office in tomorrow for yours. They don't like doing international shipments online. No worries though. It'll give me a chance to stretch my legs at lunch time.

I have one more set of 25 of the cluster pins for anyone that is interested. To be clear, I am talking about the terminals on the end of repair wire 000 979 009, or pin N 907 647 01 They look like this:

I ordered 125 of them. 75 are gone; I'm keeping 25. Anybody who is interested, let me know.

Thanks again for doing this!!! Do you have a link to the crimper you bought? I have one, but it isn't the best and kinda crushes the tangs that go around the insulation...
