Here we go......
Worked out a price with a local dealer (via email). Salesman was helpful and knowledgeable when I went in for a test drive. Went back last Saturday to purchase the car. Salesman was helping another customer and the other 3 sales guys standing around wouldn't help in any way. 45 minutes later I left.

Fast forward to today. Salesman had contacted me that they had the car I was looking for in stock (TDI, SEL, white ext, black interior). Salesman was again preoccupied when I arrived(not a big deal). Another sales guy offers to get the car for me. Car can not be found. He says "must be at one of our other lots". We then proceed to three different lots (30 minutes or so). Can't find the car. Drive back to the dealer. Car is sitting behind the dealer's service department.

The rest of the story.....

Salesman starts up the car and pulls it out 20 feet. This is what he left behind:

I yelled at the sales guy to stop. He does after another few feet. Here is the pic from less than 1 minute later:

Needless to say that was the end of the buying expierence. later in the day Salesman #1 emails me with an apology. The service department had taken a part off the new car and used it to repair someone else's car. Car was not marked in any way that it should not be driven/needed service/etc.

They need to get their stuff together!

Wow that is crazy. Time to find another dealer. The sad part is someone will wind up that car and never know nothing even happened. Hopefully no major damage if stopped in time.

Obviously not engine oil. Could be brake fluid, which wouldn't hurt anything if it got a little low. How about DSG lubricant? Can it be that clean/clear? I would assume this is a DSG, since there were no 6MTs at dealerships in Kansas City that I know of when this got posted. f that is all that spilled (out of 5.5 liters), it will have no consequence whasoever, besides needing the DSG getting topped off properly (has to be correct temp, and it's a weird process).

I would be more concerned with how the parts were installed to fix this...proper torque/tension, and whatnot. That spill was the first time it leaked, obviously. It was behind the service department... so the salesman should have consulted service before touching it. Then again, was the key left in it? Must have been, since the mechanic would not return the key to the sales office in that condition. I blame this on the salesman, not the mechanic.

As far as I know the key was in the sales office. The salesman came out of the sales facitlity with the key in his hand.

All I know, is when I worked in a service dept. And we stripped parts off of BRAND NEW equipment to repair used equipment. We had a sorry parts inventory. Which also reflected on the company itself, not to mention the way the service dept worked!! Glad to say, I only stayed at that shop for three months.
edit:I hope you're going somewhere else for a car!

The simple way to buy a TDI - send a PM to tdiclub member "3193" Chris Farnham at Langhorne VW In Langhorne PA describing what you are looking for. Then purchase a one way ticket to Philadelphia to go pick up the car.

The story that they took a part of a brand new car to fix another vehicle. In general, dealerships despise that behavior.
