There are just too many to list....
FWIW, all current VAG engines have a 10k mile OCI listed. There are 2 different 2.5L inline gassers, and 3 different 2.0t engines, but they are all the same schedule as the BRM and the CPEA TDIs.

You would be shocked if you had your oil analyzed.

Modern oils are meant to keep nasty stuff in suspension or neutralize them so they don't harm the engine.

Boogieman,

Please don't think that we're trying to be mean or rude, but as you can see from the exasperation in Drivbiwire's post, this topic comes up a lot.

I know it seems counter-intuitave, but I have to trust that those german engineers who designed our engines and their oil requirements had some clue as to what they were doing.

As gets said on here a lot "drive more, worry less"

one more thing, royal purple may be a good oil, but it's not rated 505.01 or greater so you should try to find some oil rated for our engines (mine requires 505.01 as well). I personally use Total and order it from tdiparts.com but there are lots of places to order it if your not close to a dealer (again, like myself) or want to use the castrol that they have. (boraparts, world impex and more)

I have heard, and seen the spot on the shelf at the local NAPA for Valvoline Synpower MST which is rated 505.01. Just about all the 505.01 and 507.00 oils are from europe so even if you get mobil, vavoline, castrol, etc.. they are all imported.

On an aside, there have been people who've run non-505.01 oil in their PD engine and had sucess but it would be prudent in that case to do used oil analysis to be sure there is no problem and for ~$25 a sample, I myself will use the oil they (VW) tell me to and be happy not to spend any extra $.

Diesel on,

Ill give tdiparts a try next time, sounds good but what type do you use, theyve got so many different ones, and also how much do I order, I see it comes in liters.(metric sucks)

totaly understand that, nearest dealer around here is about a 120 miles away.

You drive a European car...why would metric measurements suck? Your car IS metric.

I use the Total Ineo MC3 505.01 which is the replacement for ELF excellium which is what the previous owner of my car used. (total is the old elf, just the name changed) My car takes about 4.25 liters so I use the extra .75 liters as top up oil between changes. I also prefer the 1 liter bottles rather than the 5 liter so I can keep that last bottle in the spare tire well.

If you're trying to decide on the right oil for you you may want to check the UOA (used oil analysis) database and see what kind of results people with your engine get with the different kind of oils.

I'm not sure how many liters your 1.9 takes but it should be in your manual or posted around here somewhere.

I have been reading through the oil change posts and wondering if the Intervals change once you go over a certain KM or Milage?

Called VW and they advised that now that I have over 200,000KM I should have my oil changed every 10,000KM instead of the previous 16,000

All insight and information is welcomed...

No rhyme or reason for doing so unless your injectors are completely gone...

Correct me if I am wrong but didn't all models move to the BRM engine in the 2006 year? If not that means the 2006 Golf and the Beetle (both MkIV) have the BEW and only the Jetta (since it was the only other car) has the BRM, which means there are less than 10k total BRMs in the USA?

Local dealer... and it sounded like they use it as a standard answer - I called back and talked to another service advisor.
__. Some gasser models (I think the high performance ones) had a problem with oil sludging and VW engineering/service recommended that stealers change oil at 5K miles (~8K kliks). Maybe stealers have the TDI confused with this (TDI's do NOT need oil changed at 5K except in the most exceptional circumstances). Or maybe they just want you to come in so they change throw away perfectly good oil and charge you for new - and the labor.

The 2006 A4s had the BEW. That would be both Golf and NB. I think the Jetta went to A5 in 2005.5 so there may be few more BRM than you list, but yes that was limited production.
