97 passat grill removal

My search skills really suck! I know it's on here somewhere . I need to take off the grill for some work . Col.

Get a small flat head screwdriver. There are a few small delicate tabs along the top part of the grill you will need to depress. Keep going around the plastic grill and find them all. If I remember correctly I needed to take it off to gain access to removing the bumper.

I did the top two. Tried the middle one behind the VW emblem and it cracked. Can't see any other connectors but grill is still attached somewhere.

Personally, I think you’re better off removing the metal trim piece with the grill attached. The plastic is old and fragile. Poor design, from the start...

Getting it back in, can be just as much fun. I remember having to “flex” it in. Old plastic isn’t meant to bend like that...
