\'96 Passat TDI in Minnesota

No pix yet! I just purchased the car today about 1 hour ago and I am sooooo excited. I love this car. Beats the heck out of the Saab I dumped this summer. Or at least I hope so.

Good to see Chrisi with his all loaded down as I am but 3 months from strapping a bram/stroller to the top of mine (I won't be in France however

-- But as I alway say France is Wisconsin with an accent)
I should be working but I think I'll go for a drive down Plato Blvd.

Brett, congrats on the new passat. I fell in love with mine when i bought it in June. I haven't made many mods yet but I hope to next spring. It's nice to know someone close by (River Falls is 35 min from St. Paul). Enjoy .

Congrats from one new owner to another. Excellent color choice if I may say so.

How many miles? What kind of maintenance records came with it? Check for the various recalls, make sure they were done. My dealer was very good about making some pre-existing conditions good on the cart after the deal, but you have to be on them right away.

Watch out for those lead boots. This car is so smooth and quiet on the highway, that I find myself constantly wondering why everyone else is driving so slow, until I look down!

The good thing is that Grey station wagons seem to be invisible to the boys in blue, so you'll be safer in that regard.

Just watch out for the sneaky ones!

Greetings,

I have been researching the TDI Jetta and Golf for sometime with a possible aquistion next month. I like the idea of additional space assosciated with the Passat. However, I am concerned that there won't be enough juice.

A couple of the reviews I have read indicate the 96 and 97 Passat TDI was under powered.

Any comments?
