Hi, so since I bought the car it had the cable for the fuel temperature cut on the injection pump and the car was smoking. Now I've fixed the cable and the fuel temperature sensor is working but it is still smoking. The problem is when I step on the gas the car when going over 3k rpm starts sometimes chooking and sometimes it dies and when I leave the gas pedal it comes back on. So here are some pictures.

This is the smoke .. idk if its white or grey I cant tell but I sure can smell the diesel when the car is on.

Here is the video https://streamable.com/8482tz

So this is the timing atm when I got the fuel temperature sensor working

This are the vcds groups when the car was in idle

This is the video when I've flored it in 2rd .. It goes to 4k rpm and the car dies so even if you hold the pedal it wont go anywhere and when I leave the pedal for a little it will get its power back ... https://www.youtube.com/shorts/Z-MOpS2a1Vk?feature=share

Here I flored it in 3rd till the end and I starts good but then loses power and cant make it any further than that https://streamable.com/7c4b2e

This is 2nd gear again when the car starts loosing power it also started hopping .. https://streamable.com/m0mfq3

So what do you guys thing is it fuel related, maf sensor or a clogged up intake manifold or exhaust or something like a turbo or wastegate ?

I will take off the egr and intake manifold today and clean it.

I think you’re on the right track. Good plan to pull and check the intake.

My 1Z had the same fall flat symptoms. I cleaned the intake (wasn’t that bad), fixed the iq with the hammer mod, fixed the timing by using vcds and adjusting pump position but problem still persisted.
I changed the injectors with used ones and that fixed my inability to rev the car. Mines still a bit smoky but at least it can rev.

Good luck! At least you have vcds!

In terms of timing you appear to be way retarded (which can definitely cause white smoke), but your engine is actually too cold to be displaying timing accurately (bottom middle of screen "Engine (ECT) not warm enough!".)

Looks like you were around 57C at the time... needs to be over 80C, and the intersection of the yellow lines needs to be at least on the blue line... a bit higher is just fine as well.

thank you for the reply, you actually gave me some tips on what to check next.

I drived around for quite a bit and and the car was at 90*C ehrn i looked on the car cluster but on vcds I saw that and I think its the sensor that is causing that maybe its a bad make and I heared people have problems with that.

I will try to set it like that and then once I will drive for over a hour I will check it again.

today I actually found something big which did not solve the reving problem but is still good. The blue boost pipe like that goes on the wastegate was on a metal pin sticking out from it and not on n the wastegate lol.

The cluster gauge is programmed to show a steady 90C over a very wide range of actual coolant temperatures, so the actual reading from VCDS is your best guide for sure.

Yeah thank you will check all that mentioned above. I've started with the valve on the fuel system since when I opened the top cover on the injection pump it was full of rust. I think on skipping everything and just pop the engine cover to check the injectors. I bet at least on but may be more are plugged from the gunk that came from the reservoir. Made a list from you and Jordan on what to check next.

1. Check Injectors & change the engine cover gaskets.
2. IQ with Hammer Mod
3. Timing with VDCS and adjust the pump position
4. EGR/Intake cleaning
5. PB blaster into the wastegate and then suck it out
6. Spray ovencleaner in the turbo over the hole that the egr cooler goes

This was inside my injection pump
