8th Annual Detroit Auto Show GTG - NAIAS 2015 - January 17 (aka WINTERFEST)

Summer is over and winter is on its way! That can only mean one thing - preparations for our 8th annual Detroit Auto Show get-together (and maybe some snow, of course)!

WHEN:
This year's GTG date: Saturday, January 17th, 2015 (first public day of the show). Due to the large number of out-of-towners who frequent this event, the GTG will start on Friday evening and conclude with breakfast at The Bomber on Sunday morning.

While we have typically done go karting at www.kart2kart.com in Sterling Heights, Michigan, I was thinking of mixing it up a little bit this year and trying a new place that is in the Ann Arbor area.

LODGING:
Once again, we will be shacking up at the Ypsilanti Marriott. It's a 40 minute drive from the COBO Center, it's a great place to stay, and Ypsi is an awesome town with awesome food (and not far from Ann Arbor).

Pricing is the same as last year, at $119/night + tax. We have 10 rooms set aside, so there is guaranteed availability through January 2nd, 2015. After that, no promises.

Saturday, January 17th:
7:00am - 8:00am: Breakfast @ The Bomber
9:00am - 1:00pm: Meet @ Cobo Center lobby & auto show
2:00pm - 5:30pm: Go Karting & Pizza @ Kart 2 Kart OR JD Karting - see thread poll
6:30pm - midnight: Hang out at hotel, dinner, Cards Against Humanity, whatever!

Sunday, January 18th:

There will be ladies there! I would imagine that Sprockette will be there, along with deegingerkid and perhaps others. Last year Mrs. pparks1 was there for the meet and greet on Friday night.

It's only bad when you'd rather be going 80 than 50 and have hundreds of miles to cover.

This was a snow squall at the end of the drive last year (I think you guys were in the same snow) and was a little scarier mostly because it was the tail end of rush hour near Cleveland and people were hurrying.

Just saw the thread tonight for the get together. I just scheduled it on my calendar as the wife and I had fun last year. Unsure on the logistics yet, as my daughter does competition dance and she has dance classes on Friday night. If we can get somebody to take her to the classes, my wife would probably come with me to dinner and such on Friday night again.
